I thought the Wrangler is a body on frame, with a true ladder frame up under that body...
It is, the term unibody is a misnomer by the auto industry. Unibody technically means the body of the vehicle is one piece, it doesn't say shit about the frame being there, or not there. A frame is a frame, whether the vehicle has one or not is something entirely different.

This is my personal opinion of it.

What lake?
I live at Smith Mt. Lake..
I live on the Pamunkey River. I love smith mountain lake, a buddy of mine growing up had a place up there, we made a week long trip every year and it was definitely a highlight of the summer. Damn that water was clear... you could see fish on the bottom in 75 feet of water!

I have been very happy with my gladiator. It’s not as much power as my FX4 had, but it gets the job done. I don’t do crazy off-roading, but have faced a few challenges and it rocked!

I’m getting ready to order a 2021 gladiator. I am a former Tacoma owner I had a 2017 after driving the new gladiator it felt much more peppy and fun to drive than my Tacoma. Honestly the Tacoma was terrible it was under powered the transmission was terrible the gearing was off. Also just never felt comfortable that flat floor seating position yuk. Anyways looking forward to my new gladiator.

Forgot to add , My 2017 Tacoma had drum brakes. When I went to look at the new Gladiator also looked at a 2020 Tacoma still has a drum brakes. Can’t believe it.

IMO people are far too focused on this as a major issue. The rear brakes in a pickup do so little braking that either is perfectly acceptable for the application. Never once, even towing damn near the limit of the truck, did I feel I needed rear discs in my third gen Tacoma.

To each there own , enjoy your drum brake Toyota. That’s cool with me. I owned one nobody can BS me now. I fell for that bs once. Visit Tacoma world forums plenty of people over there with frozen drum brakes after washing, wheels dragging, etc... all the typical old drum brake problems. Drum brakes suck in wet conditions. Been there done that. Yea I’ll stick with those nice big disc brakes on the Jeep thank you very much.

Dunno... I've owned a 2007 and a 2018 with rear drums and never had issues. Didn't see many on TW other than people bitching about things they didn't understand. Not trying to bullshit you at all here but if you think discs are any better about seizing or dragging then I've got a bridge to sell. I saw way less issues with rear drums in my years of wrenching than I ever did with drums.

I'm just over 3K miles on my Gladiator. I had previously replied and wasn't the happiest with it. I have to say that I feel what it has is 'okay'. As a JKU owner with a 3.8L. yes...nice difference, but given the mileage it gets and power output. I will say that I really think Jeep should of offered the Gladiator with a Hemi option. I'm not saying a SRT or Supercharged hellcat...though I wouldn't complain...LOL. But just a basic 5.7L Hemi. My wife has one in her Grand Cherokee and it is great and gets great mileage, unless you are getting on it. I gladly would of paid an extra 3-4K for the Hemi to get the power, mileage, and sound. That price I'm listing because I think that was what it cost as an option on my wife's Grand Cherokee

If Ford can ever get the Bronco launched, it will help us all. It is supposed to have 300+ hp option, exactly what the JL & JT need.

For how I use my auto Rubicon JT I'm content with the power. Yes, I would have ordered a more powerful engine option if it would have been available. Obviously, if I was concerned with fuel milage then the Gladiator is the wrong vehicle.

There could be a more powerful engine option offered later for the JT, but Jeep isn't telling us anything now because they want to sell us a JT now that we plan to keep forever, and another JT later that we will keep forever with the new and improved more powerful engine and other must have options.

Ford announced it last month for the Ranger and it's a dealer-installed option when you buy. Supposed to add a heap of torque down low as well. Though beware, I read in this thread that anything less than 8 cyilinders will make your dick fall off.

Sadly, I don't think FCA will keep up on this one. Ford has over a decade head-start on these turbo applications so they're going to push the envelope much harder than others will try. Not to mention they're starting on a smaller platform with the 2.0L vs the 2.3L Ford before they boost it. Seems FCA is more likely to push toward the PHEV strategy instead of getting power out of strictly gas powertrains.

I mean knowing it's a midsized truck, knowing since it's a jeep I was going to have to pay a premium for it, overall I've had very little to complain about on mine. Going into the purchase and using my other Jeep wranglers and Jeep's I've owned as a bases, I got to say this thing really performs and does everything I need it to do for me. I'm glad I got the Max tow because I feel like that's something that I will definitely take advantage of. Overall this to me is a solid truck and it's a Jeep so to me win win, I'm Happy!
I went from a twin turbo six f150 so the power is not as great of course. But there is plenty of power in my JT. I find that I enjoy the overall driving experience of the JT for daily driving much more. I still like the f150 too. Now a twin turbo JT, well!

I sold my 2017 JKU Rubicon Recon to get into a 2020 Gladiator Rubicon because I like the versatility of a pick up. Same engine specs, but what happened! The Gladiator is 10 times friskier than the Wrangler. Both have auto transmission. 5 vs 8 speed. If the Recon was as quick as the Gladiator, I may have reconsidered selling it.
