I'd be happy with the regular 5.7L Hemi V8 that came in the Ram with cylinder shut off technology.

If you need more than 395bhp and 425ft-lbs. then you're into different things than I am.
Agreed. I have been preaching the same since I heard about this a few months back. The people in sticker shock shouldn't be. Its a pretty fair markup IMO.

I actually sent my rig over to AMW4x4 4 weeks ago today to have the 5.7 Hemi conversion done along with a lift upgrade and a few other things. They recommended the 6.4 as well but I didn't want it. I don't want to run premium fuel and the 5.7 from them comes tuned over 400 hrspwr. I don't get why you need or want more in a lifted Jeep.

Who knows....to each is their own and all that I suppose!

70k and it will still get its ass kicked, power-wise, by a tuned 2.7TT they are putting in the Bronco. Jeep being Jeep, again.
This is a joke right? My supercharged 3.6 kept pace with a Raptor.

Insane. No thanks. I’ll do a blower on the JT and keep my manual and my bank account. I’ve got something lighter with nearly 700hp to get my speed fix.
The blower option sucks IMO. I went that route to and ended up getting a Hemi. I understand what you mean though - I have an SRT for my speed.

I've been thinking about doing the same (eventually) . I don't see the point in the 6.4, I'd rather have the 5.7.

Probably the point is the marketing appeal - why stop at 5.7 when you can have a 6.4.

Maybe. I already have an SRT with the 6.4. For me the power/fuel economy and fuel grade all played a role in my decision for the JT.

The guys over at AMW 4x4 are pretty great though. I HIGHLY recommend them if you are thinking about having any work done. They really know their stuff.

They also do a Hellcat and Hellephant option.....so if I opted to the 6.4 under the why stop at a 5.7 philosophy....id be dropping 119k for the Hellephant right now :)!

You went w/ Hamburger, iirc....what sucks about their SC...especially if you were keeping up w/ Raptors?

Dont get me wrong: like you, I would prefer the V8 over the SC'd v6....but because I probably wont have the additional $30k for that upgrade....the SC add is more likely.

Plus 392 sounds a whole lot closed to the 400+ CID engines of the glory days of muscle cars.

If that matters to anyone these days.

Indeed it does - I have a 396 (69 SS Chevelle) sitting in storage.

Love old school muscle.

If you don't mind me asking, how much is the conversion for the 5.7? I've been thinking about this for a while now. I keep hearing $30-40k for the 6.4 conversion, but like you, I think it makes more sense to drop the 5.7 instead and save a ton of money.

I don't know why everyone is so surprised by this. The SRT Grand Cherokee is in the same price range. Did you expect it to be a $2K option ??? Get real.
