For want of a word that best described the integral plastic part that both defects the flow of air and also prevents mud etc. from coating the back of the bottom set of lights (perhaps called driving lights) that is located directly in front of the front tires which if said tires are oversized will hit described plastic device. which is also referred to as an air dam that I erroneously called a spoiler. Wikipedia:

Air dam may refer to various aerodynamic devices:

Fog lights. That's what's in the bumper.
Never heard that close-off piece called an air dam, though.
Do be careful with wikipedia, though..............

I know air dams and other ground effects, and spoilers. ;) Gotta mess with folks a bit.

I actually quite like the stock overland wheels, but would like to go with a more aggressive tire (interested in the KO2's) that's slightly wider than stock. Wondering if any other Overland owners had the same thought and what tire & size you went with?

I plan to run the stock, street truck tires for a while just because new rubber is pricey. But when these wear out, or get close, I'll be going with something a bit more "Jeepy".
had Nitto Ridge Grapplers added to the Stock 20” wheels that came in my Overland high altitude

Heh Spoiler!

So all JTs have an integrated spoiler option!

Note the little "flip up" at the back of the roof - AMC integrated the spoiler into the roof sheet metal so that it could be used in the Trans Am races -

And see - I got the JT worked back into things as it's sitting there in the pic!

We went with the ST Maxx in 295s on our stock wheels, Teraflex front spacer on stock suspension. Just came back from a 2000 mile trip towing a 7x12 (3000lbs total with cargo). Found it most comfortable doing it on manual mode, just toggling back and forth on 5th and 6th, averaging 70-75mph comfortably. 70mph on 6th is approx. 2500rpm, toggle to 5th 3500 rpms when hitting inclines. 14hrs straight minus gas stops. Temps never read above 210 on cooling. Oil temps went as high as 225, drops down quickly by slowing down to 65mph

. averaged 12mpg on stock 3.73 gearing. Seems this motor is making just enough torque at 2500rpms. I will probably go 4.56 to hit that target and possibly get an overdrive gear back. At this point though I don't see it being an immediate necessity, and get by just doing manual mode.

Anybody know what the max width tire you can fit on the stock Overland rims? I'm planning on a bump to BFG 35's, Teraflex 1.5" leveling kit, and maybe some wheel spacers if needed.

when I was shopping and looking at tires, I was looking for the same info.. 295/70/18 had an approved rim width from 7.5" on up, 305/70/18 was next size up which is a 35" but approved rim width started at 8.5". Ive seen people do it with no issues thru the years though with no issues.

It seems to be an impossible question to get answered by just searching the online tire stores. I'm probably just going to have to call or chat.

Discount tire tells me that tire size won’t fit. Yours mount up/balance ok ? I have the high altitude in granite crystal. What size spacer you using ?

Looking at my receipt I had a leveling kit done with it and 4 of '5 on 5 JL 1.25" 14x1.5 Hub centric"' used for the spacers. If you need to call Southern Off ROad Specialists at https://southernoffroad.net/ and ask for Ross.

IF ONLY we could get the 4:11 on the overland I would be elated..
hey Jeep now there’s a package waiting to happen.
nice set up I appreciate what you’ve done
question however, is that size normally to big for that rim size?? I keep reading how 285/70(75)/18 is the biggest most have tried...

Interested. The stock street tires just look wrong on a Jeep but not ready to drop $1k to replace brand new tires. I'm leaning KO2 as well but was just planning on sticking to the stock size.
It will cost over $1k. I'm getting some tomorrow.
