Hey!

I’ve been perusing the forums and I haven’t come across this question as yet.
Does anyone have airlift airbags and the teraflex 1.5” leveling kit installed? I tow a 29’ camper (6000lbs fully loaded) and I’m wondering how much squat I should expect with the airbags. Not sure if I want to install the full 1.5” that comes with the leveling kit or should I go with just 1” to avoid the front end being higher than the rear when towing.

apologies in advance if this question has been asked previously or this thread is in the wrong forum.

First of all, with that much weight you should be utilizing a weight distribution hitch.

If you still have any squat with that then the air bags will help.

Set your front level for unloaded truck.

Hey, thanks for the reply!

i am using a WDH, just wanted something to maybe improve the ride and lessen the squat. My thought is that if I use the airbags, then when I am towing the squat will be greatly reduced and keep the truck/camper level with the leveling kit installed.

If your WDH is set up correctly you should have minimal squat.

The airbags will give you a little more UMPH if you need it. I think @Gren71 is playing with spring spacers so you might hit him up for his opinion on those.

But the whole leveling thing, set the truck up for the way you want it the majority of the time. If you have a little squat with 6000#s hanging off the back, well so what.

I don’t have any lift on mine, but installed the airlift bags. HUGE difference in towing and ride quality. I’ve only towed 14’ double axle with 4 dr Polaris and some other small utility items, but it squatted and bounced a lot before. It’s straight with almost no sway now. Very pleased for 86$ on Amazon.

I’ve also read if you use taller springs you can use the ram 1500 bags. Search on it if you decide to use progressive lift springs. I know rancho makes some.

I installed the mopar 2" lift with 0.75" leveling kit on the rear and used the Ram 1500 Airlift airbags. Used a motorcycle TPMS system to monitor the pressure in the bags. Haven't loaded up the bed yet to test them, but install was easy. Let me know if you have any questions

I have spacers but haven’t installed my airbags yet. Im actually waiting on sumo spring inserts to arrive. I happened upon them while looking at their bump stops and thought they may be a less fussy option than bags. since, with the inserts, i wont have to worry about the bags deflating or becoming damaged while in use.

That being said im a believer in the factory rake when it comes to towing safely. Im running the iron rock 2in spacer lift (2in front and 2in rear) so i got the lift and kept the rake. Now i sit pretty much level with my tt at the same weight as yours. (Forest river wolf pup 18to black label)

earlier this year i had added 1/2in to the front, making my lift 2.5 front and 2 rear. I found that even with a wdh i was still just a little nose high. It wasnt all that much but im neurotic so i want to be level or even slightly nose down.

keeping in mind what @kevman65 said if the inserts make a difference I’ll probably add the 1/2in back onto the front since I prefer that look.

I have the teraflex spacer in the front and the airlift 1000s in the rear. I only used the 1" spacer as I wanted to keep a slight amount of rake unloaded. I also have a steel front bumper and winch installed. Measured from the ground to the rock rail it is 19" in the front and 19.5 in the rear unloaded with 5lbs in bags. Put 15lbs in the bags with my rooftop tent on and did the Ga Traverse a couple of weeks ago. They did help a LOT. It did bring the back of the truck up to normal with the load, but the big difference was in making it not feel so top heavy with the tent. I honestly didn't notice the tent after I put air in the bags.

Can you provide a link fir the TPMS kit?

After installing a canopy camper on my Mojave I installed Ram 1500 bags to address the sag. They helped some but not enough, and my front was sagging due to the steel bumper and winch. So I added a 2.5” lift to get closer to factory height, it resulted in about 1” of lift I think. I need to find a stock Mojave to get better before measurements. I may add a leveling kit to the back.

It drives better on the road so far, we will check the trail this weekend.

Before and after pics.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Your build out and mine are similar and when loaded down on the last trip; the back end felt really heavy on stock suspension.

I've been thinking about a less expensive route like spacers and air bags.

What do you keep your bags at while just riding?
