Ok folks, I just talked to my case manager, Lisa at Jeep Cares. She asked me to ask all of you who are having this issue to call in to Jeep cares and establish a case. Tell your case manager to notify Lisa (ext 406-0550) that you are having the “suspension bottoming out problem.” She needs at least 3 of us JT Ecodiesel owners with the same problem. I don’t know what this will get us, but the more people who bring it up to Jeep Cares, the better.

NOTE: if you have modified your suspension, they probably can’t do anything for you.

Thanks so much Jay. I am experiencing the same issue with my Rubi Diesel. I just submitted a request via the website, noted the issue, and requested they notify Lisa. Hope more do the same. Would be nice to have them address this... I was really hoping to only need a spacer in the front to reduce the rake... I didn't want to lift it.

I spoke with Lisa yesterday. They just need 3 cases to escalate. Can you maybe call and make sure they received it?

Ok, yeah the online system doesn't work. I called in and they said I need to go to dealership the to do anything. I got my case number, and the person I spoke with said they will reach out to Lisa. Hopefully that is all that was needed... I have had my truck for a month now, and it had to go back in the shop for a few days to fix some shipping damage... don't really want to take it back for a service advisor to spend 5 days trying to figure out what I am talking about.

Just got off the phone with Lisa. Sounds like it has to go to a dealership :(. Anyway she is going to reach out to a couple and find one that will work with her. Guess I will hold on putting my spacers in this weekend. Not sure if I will be a good candidate or not because i have a Smittybuilt bumper and a winch.

But I did do some homework and here is what I came up with:
Front plastic bumper = 33.5 Pounds (Weighed with a scale)
Front Skid plate = 16.5 Pounds (Weighed with a scale)
Mopar winch mounting plate - 27 Pounds (shipping weight, i dont have one to weigh)
***Total 77 Pounds***

Smittybilt bumper is 77 pounds

That stinks. I would think any stock diesel gladiator having these issues would be welcome.

maybe remove the winch?

My diesel High Altitude has not had this issue yet. Just rolled 900 miles today on a mix of roads. No idea what springs I have as everything is bone stock. I can see about measuring the springs this week.

Hey Jay, any updates from your side? I am heading to MOAB in the near future and won't be able to get my vehicle in to the dealer until after I get back. Lisa asked me if i could put my stock bumper back on, which I can, but it is a huge PITA... Hoping some others with the issue will get their vehicles in so Jeep can get this sorted.

I couldn’t say anything until now… it seems that Jeep has been using my Gladiator as a test case. They had an engineer check it out twice and in the end (after 7+ weeks without my Gladiator), they compensated me with the 2” MOPAR lift kit.

In return, I had to sign a settlement agreement in which I agreed to not bring any other “suspension bottoming out” issue back to any Jeep dealer.

It seems like some other owners have also already benefitted from my dealer’s efforts, as Stellantis seems to be guiding other dealers with Diesel gladiators owners experiencing the same bottoming out issue towards this end as well.

Great!! Fantastic.

One of the reasons I went with the lift ASAP was for this very reason. Wonder if they’ll do anything for those of us that “fixed” the problem ourselves.

Wait. If we have the issue and complain to the dealer they’ll likely install a lift kit if they can reproduce it?

CerOf,

No, I don’t think they will. My understanding is that they will only deal with stock vehicles. They don’t even want to deal with OrangeCJ because he put a winch on his gladiator.

But, you might be a contender if you revert your vehicle to stock then show the dealer that the gladiator bottoms out with stock suspension.

Maybe. If you have a stock vehicle - no non-stock bumpers, steps, winch, or anything else that adds weight, then maybe. You’ll still have to go through the wickets with the dealer, and then talk to Lisa like I mentioned above.
