I recently put on some Nexen Roadian MTX 35x12.50r17 Tires on my Gladiator. I am currently playing with tire pressure and I haven't been able to do the Chalk test due to all the rain we've had here. Currently I have the tires set at 32psi Cold. It seems to ride a little better from the 37psi the Tire shop set them at. But I was curious what other people running 35s have their pressures set for daily driving. Also I am not running a bead lock wheel so what minimum pressure should I run when wheeling? Below are the specs on the tires-
Load Range F / 12ply Max load 3195lbs Max PSI 80

Load range F? WOW

I run my e-rated 33 cold. This results in about 35 hot. I have no weird tire wear.

if it were to tow/haul, I’ll bump up to 37-ish cold.

35x12.5R17 Duratracs

you should be good at 15 when off-road. I ran 18 and should have gone 15.

I’m going through this same thing right now (Toyo AT3 35x12.5r17 E’s). 26 seems so counterintuitive (at least to me).

I did a chalk test today and 30 seemed to wear off the chalk evenly. Tire store had it set at 36.

I noticed that the thicker sidewall doesn’t allow the tire to soak up bumps as much as the stock JTR33ā€œC’s did and instead, transfers the bumps more to the suspension (I’m running Mopar lift). I’m probably only 100 miles in so far so time will tell.

Those are pretty stout tires and heavy tires you could probably get away with running them at 28 PSI. I almost got a set for mine in a 37 but the weight of the tire turned me away.

I'd start at 30 on the street and 10-12 off road.

If 30 gives you too low MPG and handling feels weird, try going up to 32.

If 12 off road does not give you a noticeably bigger contact patch and some sidewall bulge, go down to 10.

I’ve used this formula for awhile now, post #16:

https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f15/tire-pressure-equation-342704/index2.html

I then take a 5 mile highway drive and check the temps across the tire with a temp gun similar to this:
https://us.amazon.com/General-Tools...mp+gun&qid=1634002221&sprefix=rc+temp+&sr=8-5

I have one leftover from my Nitro R/C days.

Temps should be within a degree or two when measured on outside edge, middle, and inside edge. Higher in the middle is over inflated, higher on the edges is under inflated.

Doing this has worked well for me regardless of load range or diameter of the tires. It’s time consuming, but worth it in the end, and more reliable than the chalk test.
