The wife drove in to work with me today and when she picked me up for lunch, the left rear tire pressure was down to 16 psi. Discount Tire was just around the corner so I took it in for them to have a look and hopefully patch.
They were busy and said it'd take about an hour, so we walked across the street to eat some yummy Thai.
As we were just finishing lunch, they called to let me know the puncture was too close to the sidewall and they would be unable to repair it. Unfortunately, they also didn't have the same tire in stock and wanted to know if I wanted to go with a new set.
The JT only has 4k on it and I wasn't ready to replace all of my tires just yet, so I told them I'd just put on the spare for now and figure out what I was going to do.
They were gracious enough to put the spare on for me and not charge a dime. I do like the service I get from them...always have been satisfied with their service.
I looked at the spot where the puncture is and it is on the most outside lobe, right in the middle of a knobby. I understand them not wanting to take any liability for such a repair, as it is borderline where they place the allowable threshold.
Being that I use to work at Goodyear, repairing tires with all sorts of greater damage, I am quite confident that I can patch it and feel safe driving on it for the life of the tire with no issue.

I would patch it and use it as the spare. It’s cool that Discount tire provides these services.

That is if the spare is the same rim as the rest of 'em. Otherwise, it's swap tires from spare rim to regular rim...too much like work to me  ...what about simply getting a new tire at the stealership?

It's been a cray couple of weeks!

Picked up my JTR on the 8th, had to take off the freedom panels for an afternoon drive to my Dad's favorite German restaurant. There were no well equiped JTR's with the option's that I was looking for between Denver ans SLC. Thankfully I found one a few miles from the area's where my Dad and Brother live, my Brother birddogged it for me and thankfully put a few hundred down to hold it while I figured out travel, wiring off money for a down payment for a vehicle you haven't seen or driven is a little unnerving! Started the drive home on the 10th, picked up a winch, plate for the steel bumper and ARB twin on the way home the morning of the 11th, Took some great pic's on the drive over Loveland Pass that afternoon and finally gut home later that afternoon with almost 1400 miles on the mill.

Installed the winch today!
:)

Installed the Oak colored Hotheads Headliners (looks really good with the Saddle seats), JScan adjusted for the bigger tires, and hooked up the iDrive throttle controller.
Pics, please.

Just replace it with a 37” tire. Oops the rest don’t match. Now, you need 37’s all around.

Finally got my new Tires. 35 x 12.5 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/Ts on Icon Alloy Vectors 17 x 8.5, -6 offset. I love the stance with the AEV 2” spacer lift.

Really digging the set up! How are you feeling about the Baja A/T,s after some time? I'm about to pull the trigger ... are you running factory gears? ... any input would be greatly appreciated as the wheel/tire specs I'm looking at are the same & real world experience is always best ... ?

Created a bed divider with honeycomb plastic sheets. Wouldn't be a jeep user if I didn't put in a little extra effort to make it different. Still needs some finishing and a rubber edge, but it's lightweight, under 2kg's/4lb's

Nicely done. I enjoy creative work.

Pretty simple but installed some bolt covers courtesy of @The Beav for the Bestop Sunrider. Highly recommend to get rid of the look of the two front bolt just sticking up.

I read this as the wife giving you permission for upgrading tires =P

Ordered a Rugged Ridge Arcus front bumper a few weeks ago and finally got it installed this past weekend. I've never attempted a project of this sort, and it was a challenge! Turned out to be a family affair to get all of the parts held in place and the bolts in line. Took the better part of 6 hours on Friday.

Here's the before shot:

Getting that winch plate in place was interesting. Ended up using some liquid wrench white lightning spray to help the metal pieces play nice with each other! And a mallet. A lot of mallet.

After a lot of positioning, holding, lifting, but thankfully, no swearing:

The only "bad part" is that I forgot the fairlead cover for the license plate. I think the only way to get that in place would be to remove everything. Not something I'm interested in doing at this time!
