Am I the only one who thinks Jeep should’ve included an in dash CD player?

Put me down for an emphatic YES! I would have gladly paid an extra $495 (what the option costs for other Mopars) for a CD player when ordering my JT. I get it, they aren’t as convenient as the new music conveyance options. I have my reasons though:

1. I’m the age of millennial that spanned tapes to CDs to mp3s. I still have mix tapes and all of my middle and high school burnt CDs and an entire collection of purchased CDs.
2. I’m definitely not as up to speed as others since I haven’t ripped hardly any of them to a computer.
3. The sound quality is noticeable.
4. I would like the option
5. The same reason I want an 80’s IROC Camaro or Pontiac Fiero; nostalgia. It was the coolest thing ever back then and CDs would actually still be used by me. Those old Camaro’s don’t seem that great now.

They offered it on my wife’s Durango, but since it was a $495 option and took up half the console for a single slot CD player it was a hard pass. I’m perfectly fine playing lossless format music from my iPhone.
I still burn mix CDs for my wife because chicks dig it.

I like having a physical copy of my music as a backup. I have about 300 cds I've collected over the years. They are copied into my phone and I have Playlist depending on my mood. I don't need or want a cd player in my cars. Its a recipe for losing or damaging my cds.

While we are at it, how about:

Mini-Disc
DAT tape
Cassette tape
8 Track (Yes some one mentioned it already.)
Zune (Though I hate MS, it was out there.)
Reel to Reel!! (That would look so retro on the dash!!)

I knew a car audio guy that took apart a portable DVD player, before any mobile ones were around, and custom installed it in the system. Looked factory made. No 3D printers then either. Only worked well parked but no one else had one.

Man I miss the old days of audio, like when it was common to go to audio stores with actual listening rooms. Car, home what ever. Best Buys listening area for Klipsch is an aisle in the store. WTF

I miss playing my CDs on the road. Sound is so much better than compressed streaming platforms. Yeah I could rip everything lossless. But that is time consuming.

My wife and I were just talking about how sad this was.

We were flipping through a huge book I have with over 500 CDs in it and listening to stuff at home. We realized that the "book" gave us ideas for stuff to listen to that we hadn't heard in years.

In contrast, Spotify/Apple Music/Pandora tends to keep us in a rut.

Within 5 minutes of breaking out "the book" we were listening to Zenyata Mondata. It had probably been 10 years since I'd listened to that album.

Let me expand: Yes you should be the only one.

There is no shortage of digital, on a non-physical format. SXM quality, I will admit it is not ideal, but it is good enough for the occasion. I am a fan of Pandora, it has a high bit rate oprion on my phone. There are many more mentioned here. All in allthe DAC in most recent phones is pretty incredible, I have great luck with android auto. Really allows me to do everything on continuity. My contact, maps, and music are all there. No fiddling with a different operating system or any of that jazz. I used to be a fan of U connect, but now I can go from vehicle to vehicle and have the same user experience regardless of what I am driving. Also have all my work apps so I can hold meetings where ever.

I find Spotify overwhelming. There are sometimes I know what I want to hear. Other times I can't decide. It's like you have pretty much the whole World's music library at your disposal. Where the hell do I start??? LOL

Just a CD Player? No tape deck, 8 track or vinyl? Its a $60k truck damnit, we should have options.

And dont get me started on the lack of VHS for the center console boobtube.

YESSSS!!!.

I was thinking of just making up list of all my CDs and keeping it in my car. Then when I dont' know what to listen to, I pull out the list and find something to play on Spotify.

Actually I was going to pay my kid to do it. My 12 year old daughter wants to learn to type faster. I'm thinking this would be a good exercise. Ha.

Its ok. My Mojave will have a 120V receptacle in the back seat. I have a CRT type TV with a built in VHS player. So I'm good.
