Done mine at 4,000 miles. After that I've been following the computer, which is normally about 8000 miles on mine. My 4 jeep wave oil changes last until 32,000 miles. I change it when it gets to 20%

I am planning on doing mine at 5000. Dealer recommended no longer than 7500 miles. So far no issues, love this vehicle!

For the first time in 10 years (when I lost access to a lift) I'll be doing my own changes on the Jeep.

I figure with the top mount oil filter and a Femco valve it doesn't get much easier. I've always been a big fan of the Fumoto valve but the Femco is much lower profile and has a similarly stellar reputation.

My thought is that I'll do my first change at 3000 miles myself, then jeep, then alternate at 6-7500 mile intervals until the freebies are used up.

I'd do mine myself but between the 4 free jeep wave ones, then I bought 6 more for $300 and then they gave 4 more free ones when the bushing cover on my pitman arm got busted when they did the steering box. That's 10 more i got left to use now that the 4 free ones are up. I shouldn't have to do it myself until well after I got 100,000 miles on mine.

Do you know if the dealer oil change is full synthetic?

I wouldn't use the freebies. Unless you found a unicorn dealer, they're going to put shit oil in and do a shit job of it. The Gladiator is high enough even fat bastards like me can slide underneath with no lift or ramps. Changes take 15 min tops. Put a quality full synthetic oil in...the correct amount...and use the Mopar or Wix filter.

A search will produce roughly 10000 pages discussing this ranging from, change it immediately to wait until the truck says to change it at around 10000 miles.

It will also range from wal mart oil to amsoil to a variety of euro spec oils all of which will work and none of which will hurt.

Some will not care much and others will tell you that the almighty god (insert your god here), will strike you down where you stand if you don't use the whiz bang whale spooge that they believe is best (with not much actual proof).

All of them are correct.
This is true of every forum I've been a part of ranging from the Ford Fiesta ST, Ducati forum, Honda S2000, to Nissan Titan talk, bimmerpost, and the mustang forum

Only reason I've had for an early oil change is the M2; it has a 1,200 mile service. It's free, but if you miss it they void your warranty some say. They do a differential service, oil change, and reflash the ECU. Swear to god it made the car faster even though it theoretically should not have.

I use Hendricks for all my service and have never had a issue. All 5 BMWs I've owned and all 4 jeeps have been serviced by them, some one one I put over 300,000 miles on. They are great and use Mobile 1 full synthetic oil when it calls for synthetic. My vehicles always have ran great that I've purchased from them as well, other than 1 Grand Cherokee that had a buy back issue on it, not their fault. I have been doing business with them for 18+ years. Purchased 6 additional oil changes from them for $300 which seems like a deal because my time is worth more than that.

I go 7,500 miles and put in full synthetic. I also rotate tires at same interval. Most of my driving is highway w/10% city. I trust me more than I trust the local dealer, plus it gives me a chance to check everything else under the vehicle. This is the same schedule I've used on all my previous vehicles which all had 140k+ miles when I sold them.
