I have a 21 JTRD that has been bottoming out on dirt roads/speed bumps/expansion joints/etc. This past weekend I installed a teraflex 1.5 leveling kit with sumosprings front bump stops. I left the bumpstop extensions from the leveling kit out since I don't want to limit uptravel more than stock, I think if you want to install larger tires the extensions would be necessary.

Anyway, since the install I haven't been able to bottom out hard (metal on metal) like I had been before. Obviously the axle now contacts the sumosprings but it doesn't seem harsh at all to me. Now that it's winter I haven't been able to test on dirt roads at all and I can't test articulation easily but for on road driving and speed bumps my problem is solved. Total I spent ~$300 so it might be worth a try.

I have done this mod also. First did the Teraflex level kit. After installing the steel front bumper and winch I was bottoming on dips and such. Installed the Sumo Springs today and ran through the dips that bottomed previously. So far I call it success. Thanks Suho!

To report I haven't had any jarring bottoming out or any bottoming out that I have noticed. I do see a little "dirt" on the bumpstops, But that could of happened anywhere / anyway .. I have not done any testing. But to put things in perspective, I only have about 350 miles on her
One knows when they've bottomed out the suspension: it comes as quite a "WTF!?" surprise. I was first introduced within a hundred miles of the dealership. Thought I'd bent the frame and that was just getting on the ramp to I-95 in Philadelphia.

Sarge, you state your uptravel is 2.5", but looks like you are only counting to the lip of the new gray collar. If you include the width of the new collar, you are over 3". On the 2021's its only 2.5" from the strikeplate to the metal lip of the coil tower.
This distance increase is trivial. After adding and only adding 1" Teraflex spacers, I was still bottoming out on the pavement though not as frequently or severe, and my regular driving habits are not conducive to such.

I talked to jeep cares about this while waiting on my case manager.

Seems alot of people have a friend in Utah. The guy I talked to laughed about how many people are trying to get a free lift kit because their friend in Utah got one. Seems everyone keeps referring to the same Star case as their friend.
I am in southern utah. They need to fix this though. I didn't buy this vehicle to be able to not go off-road which I have not been able to because of this problem. If the fix is a lift then a lift it should be. I am going to push for a fix.

What exactly is the longer bumpstop protecting? Jeep made it longer not just because the motor is heavier, it's protecting something that wouldn't get hit on gas motors.

Thought I've read everything on this issue but I don't know why the longer bumpstops.

Sorry GOFAST, sucks!

I just got my MC Undercloak installed, boy does she bottom out now!
Oh well back to saving for the AEV kit..... I sure wish Old Man Emu would do something for the Glady Diesel.
Seems strange to reply to yourself ;). I got a message from Rock Krawler this morning. Seems they are still working on the 1.5" lift spring, but it is a bit delayed they are hoping to see something next month sometime. Maybe

You have to wonder when the voices in his head are having a staff meeting and he's not invited. They might be planning on where to dump his dead body..

Lifted my truck.
Set the bump stops to hit before the shock bottoms out. Hasn't happened yet and I don't anticipate it will.

A 1" spacer will alleviate 80% of the bottoming out until Jeep comes up with a fix.

I wasn't going to wait and either not drive my truck or continue to have it beat itself up under normal on-road driving conditions

The oil pan sits lower and can hit the axle. It’s very important to flex suspension if making changes to ensure proper clearance.

I have been on this thread for a while, and all the other ones too :), but I may have missed it. Does anybody actually know what the Spring Rate is for our front springs? Or what it is supposed to be? The Clayton Leveling springs are rated at 188 lb/in... I saw some info on the gas springs that were tested at like 133 lb/in... wondering if the Clayton springs would help.

GOSH I wish Jeep would just tell us what they are going to do!!! I can't make up my mind how I want to proceed :(
