Hey exciting stuff. I just found this post today and read the entire post! Nice to see that a solid solution is in the works and being fine tuned for additional fuel range. An extra 17 Gallons is huge! I just hate stopping for gas in general and would much rather fill up half as much.

I wish transfer flow would build something that was over 30 gallons.

Smlobx,
How is the LRA aux tank working out for you in the JT? Any comments to the exhaust modifications- still satisfied with the exhaust note and etc.

Trying to learn from your experience with this installation as I am familiar with the product in Land Cruisers.

Thanks

Hi-
overall I’m very satisfied with the unit. There are a few minor quirks like it throws an evap code (as my mechanic said it might) but I just go in and erase it and it’s good for a while. I usually don’t have any gas in the LRA tank and the empty volume is what’s throwing the code.
The exhaust is livable and even my wife says it’s ok but one of my projects this summer is to install Killmat on the floor and back of the cab to tone it down a bit. Not having the rear seat in the Jeep may contribute t the slight “booming” I hear.

Would I do it again? Absolutely! Being able to fuel up where I know the price is good and drive right through areas with higher prices has already saved me a bunch. I will be taking the Glad to Utah this fall on an extended trip in the back country and this will make it one less thing to worry about!

Thanks for the update and good to hear there’s been only a wrinkle or two to get sorted out. I’m sure the Killmat or equal will help attenuate the road and exhaust levels in the cab.

Keep us posted with your progress.

Interesting update....

As many of you on the East Coast probably know the Colonial Pipeline, which is the primary fuel pipeline to the East Coast was Cyber attacked a few days ago and is shut down...

Things are starting to get a little crazy here as several stations are now out of gas and I had to wait about half an hour this morning in line to get gas on the Outer Banks of NC. I topped of both tanks putting in over 30 gallons so I should be able to make it back to VA (about 400+ miles) without issue. I paid @2.99/gal here which is about $.20 more per gallon than back home but I would bet that in the next few days it will be even higher!!!

The LRA tanks is starting to pay for itself!

Great strategy and good practice with using the tanks.

@smlobx:

Did you ever get those full underbody pictures? Also, any new tips for someone considering the install?

Nope not yet. My son “borrowed“ the Glad as I mentioned above and will be gone until mid June so it will have to be after that.

So is your Gladiator a gasser? Or diesel? Would this work for a diesel Sport S? Thanks

Just read the entire thread. Thanks for posting! I’m actively looking into getting one for my 2020 JTR. When you bought yours did LRA they offer this: https://longrangeamerica.com/product/jgjtpaem/
It’s an exhaust fitment kit. Just seeing if this would help with the droning noise issues before I purchase mine and see what my plan will be.

This just moved up to number two on my list. I have several relatives just outside the range of my tank and I hate having to stop at those grubby highway stations! I’m spoiled with having a Buc-ee’s always near where I live. If you’re not familiar with them google it and hope they will be coming to a town near you. ??

No this wasn’t available when I ordered mine. I would recommend it though..

How has it held up so far? Any issues with it getting damaged by rocks? Clearance issues? What’s your overall setup? Do you run skids underneath? I’m on 37s, 3.5 inch lift.
