Interested in this too. Don't want to spend more than a couple hundred. Just want better volume and clarity across the spectrum at high speed or doors off.

Yes, I have the MB Quart 6x9 speakers. They took some modifying but they sound great. Since the factory bar speakers are component and the speaker they sent was not I had to cut and splice the tweeter wires on the speaker and attach them to the supplied wiring harness. It took about 5 minutes but made me wonder if they sent the wrong speaker. For my troubles, they sent me a free pair of dash tweeters. Those too sound much better than stock. Great customer service, quick to answer, and very helpful.

I packed the bar with leftover memory foam from a pillow while I was in there since I had it on hand and figured it couldn't hurt. I no longer get the resonance from the bar while listening to music close to max volume.

I upgraded the 3.5’s to Kenwood Excelon KFC-X3C’s. The Alpine system sounded pretty good to me but seemed very midrange-heavy…there isn’t a single tweeter in the entire system.

Replacing the factory 3.5”s with these Kenwoods added highs into the mix that were desperately needed. I replaced them in the dash and the sound bar and now I’m more than happy with the sound quality. Pretty cheap upgrade and well worth it in my opinion.

I upgraded to these 6.5" MTX component speakers using the JL-JT pods. Because you have the Alpine upgrade, the factory setup already splits the signal for the tweeter and woofer components and you do NOT have to use the included crossovers. Total cost was about $350 and they sound great. Much more bass. They do hang down much lower than the original grills but they do NOT block the rear passenger's view forward and they look really good. Of course, you could go with less expensive speakers.

Note: adding more oomph to the soundbar will bring the soundstage backward. I had to upgrade the upper dash speakers to "brighter" Infinity units (super easy installation) to correct for that. I also did the knee panel speakers, meaning that I have upgraded every speaker except for the factory subwoofer. The system sounds excellent.

I used these: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13699042/JL-Audio-C1-650x.html

The stock speaker in the knee panel is tiny: 4", and it is the main source of distortion when you turn up the bass or volume. To go with a 6.5", which will really bring the bass forward and eliminate distortion, you need these: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120JP1014/Metra-JP-1014-Jeep-Speaker-Pods.html

The popular narrative is that you must disassemble the entire dash (literally) to do these. That's not so. I followed these instructions successfully: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/adding-an-aftermarket-amp-s.6568/

It's still a pain, but much easier than taking the entire dash apart.

I just replaced the existing 4" & 3.5" speakers with Kicker 77KICK25AB (3.5") and 47KSC404 (4"). I was pretty happy with the factory Alpines other than they just weren't loud enough with the top off. These do the trick and add quite a bit of high end as well. I am currently waiting on a pair of the Terra Acoustic dash replacements which, according to their latest email, should be available soon. I may do 6.5's in the kick panel but that will depend on what everything sounds like once I get my sub installed. Pic quality is pretty bad...but that's what the replacements look like.

I am looking for some improvement but very simple. Are those direct fit replacement? Just remove the cover, remove speaker, and replace, using existing screw holes and wiring?

Yep, the 3.5" comes with the plug n play harness adapter but the 4" did not. These will be what you need. It took about 20 minutes total to change the speakers out.

I added the Fosgate R165-S to mine with the Select Instruments pods from Crutchfield so I didn’t have to chop up the Soundbar.
