With the rear dialed in, I needed to focus on dialing in the front and taking care of this annoying bottoming condition that appears only when aired down and worse on soft surfaces like sand.

This is a great example of what happens.....

I knew I needed to reduce low speed compression and increase rebound after installing the Clayton diesel springs because the front was a little harsh in the cold and the chassis felt unsettled when hitting bumps in town. I also needed to do something with that mid speed bottoming! When conspiring with Glamisfan on the possible next moves, he suggested a drop test.......duh! Why didn't we think of this before?

Drop test before

Drop test after my changes:

Although I can't really see any compression changes, the rebound is obvious if you keep you eye on the front bumper!

It looks like an improvement for one bump. But will it pack down on successive bumps?

Didn't add that much rebound, so I doubt it. Only changed the 1.6 shim from a .015 to a .020. If it does, I'll design a flutter like I did for the rear. It almost looks like it could use a tiny bit more from just that one drop.

That test spot is 55 miles away from me and I dont know of anywhere else I could duplicate this condition........might test it this weekend again.

I wasn’t able to get my other rear shock open. I have another spanner on order that I hope works better. I’ll obviously need to open the fronts as well. I sure feel like I wasted $3000. Why Fox feels the need to keep us out of our own shocks is beyond me.

What is the deal with the spanner? Is the nut stuck or is the seal head spinning?

Yes I get the empty feeling with this product and the lack of support. I think its just a product of them being owned by a bigger machine?

Now that I'm almost dialed in shock wise, I may be jumping ship for something different..........

The nut is stuck. I have a spanner with 4mm pins and used a soft blow hammer on it. No budging, but managed to damage the nut. But since Fox won’t even reply, I don’t think I’ll get a replacement.

That bites!

Seems like I saw a nice spanner cheater wrench on Poly Perfomance site that had all of the patterns. I thought about getting it, but I needed a wrench now for my air bumps so I made one instead.

Don’t get that one. I got it and it doesn’t fit the 2.5 DSC. Our spanner holes are much further apart. It’s the new design with the perimeter nut rather than an entire bearing cap.

Ok, it probably wouldn't have fit my bumps either. Why did we get stuck with all this new designed pretty stuff that nobody has any parts or service info for?

Drill/tap that bad boy and screw some bolts in it!

If you call Fox "truck sales" phone, they will get you part numbers. Nobody will have them, so they will let you buy direct, but it will take 1-2 weeks to get your in stock stuff by the time it's done.

I’m thinking of going this route and selling the Fox. I won’t get the OEM kit though. They cheap out on some of the internals and the shaft ends, and have packaged shim stacks.

Thst tool looks pretty cool! Hope that does the job for you. Have you tried heat? Maybe a heat gun?

I understand the frustration, but do you think King will be much better? Their stuff was a year out too last time I looked into it?

Lead time is less than ideal with many of the brands. But it’s their unwillingness to help that is getting to me. I’ll reach out to King for a talk. Perhaps I’ll see they are similar. I could look at the Bilstein 8100 external bypass.Externally adjustable rebound would be awesome, as well as the internal bump benefit. As the other person mentioned, there are a few lesser marketed brands making great stuff.
