VERY well said, very logical and level-headed. Good job, and IMO, good choice.
thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I certainly had a chorus of friends and family who said "stick it to Jeep, they owe you a brand new truck right now". Well, yeah . . . and no, there's the real world.

It’s the point that they are refusing to say it’s a problem when there are 4 vehicles with the same problem, and the brand new charger that was there when mine went to the dealership to get fixed was still sitting there next to mine. They should have taken all the jeeps with that fuel system off the line or did a massive recall. I read that they did a recall for prior years, but it’s clear that the problem still exists.
Sounds like they're acknowledging there's an issue, otherwise they wouldn't be covering it under the warranty. It seems like you're just upset that it needs to get work done to it and they can't do it instantly, but in the end that's kinda normal when it comes to car ownership. It's also a known when going into diesels that they're tougher to get serviced than gassers. Comes with the territory unfortunately.

If you think about it, you can't complain that you have a problem and then go complain right away that it takes them time to fix it. You can complain if/when it becomes excessive via your state's lemon law, but you still need to give them a chance to fix it first.

LOL - yeah, but you being a realist actually READ the laws instead of letting that other part rule the day - and the laws say, well, you know.
Again, logic and a level head prevailed here, kudos to you. Make it right, yeah, but then as the Eagles sang -

Man… this is the exact opposite of my experience in the 20+ years I’ve owned Jeeps. The two dealers I’ve worked with (sales and service) over the years have been stellar.

2 months now and no idea of when the parts will be in. As of Tuesday their were 4 more vehicles sitting their and the brand new Dodge Charger that broke down the same day. The service rep said that they are having problems with the high output pumps.

It's only a issue for you. I use my head, I research what I am getting into, tailor my expectations to the research I have done, fix any known problems myself and if it is something I can't handle it take it to a professional that can.

If the jeep is down I drive a different vehicle or rent one if needed.

I don't come to forum and whine how I am entitled to this and that... Lawyers this and that. I just figure out a way to solve the current problem.

The cp4 pump and it’s cam slope is fairly aggressive to generate the fuel pressures required for the 3.0

Within the pump the way the roller floats on the cam without a pin appears to turn horizontal, then stays there and totals the pump filling the fuel system and injectors full of metal shavings.

I did read the later versions of the pump in the 21+ have changed the cam within the pump reducing the chance of this happening… but it still does.

I’ve followed every post on failing fuel pumps, and am unhealthily obsessed with it.

I have not seen a single fuel pump failure for folks running a fuel lubricant like hot shots….

Bosch is the manufacturer of the CP4 (not jeep).

FYI 26000 miles on my 21’ JTRD… Moab trips, lots of towing my 3300lb camper up hills, etc.

never a breakdown… never a check engine light.

I do a few ‘diesel’ related things with my jeep.

1. 3-4oz of hotshots per tank. Always.
2. Quality Shell fuel. No cheap or old fuel station diesel.
3. I let it warm up for 2-3 min before touching the throttle.
4. Oil changes every 5k
5. I clean the air filter every oil change and replace every 10k
6. Fuel filter every 15k

I hope my experience is different than those with failing pumps…. But if mine fails, I rest assured I do have a 100k warranty.

The battery issue is most certainly a jeep design issue. The dual battery system is awful…..
After my experience I am going to follow the above recommendations, thanks for the list.

Diesels are good, gassers suck.
With proper maintenance and care, diesel’s last forever.

2oz of Hotshot EDT with every tank, quality fuel (not the cheapest), filter changes, oil and fluid changes and KEEP RECORDS.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat (if they were as cheap as my manual gasser, and diesel fuel were cheap here). They have a 100k powertrain warranty, so I would not really stress too much. If you can afford it, and you like the torque (who doesn't), why not?
