2021 Jeep® Gladiator Fact Sheet
Auburn Hills, Mich. September 1, 2020 - The 2021 Jeep® Gladiator, engineered from the ground up to be the most off-road capable Jeep truck ever, builds on a rich heritage of tough, dependable trucks with an unmatched combination of rugged utility, authentic Jeep design, open-air freedom, clever functionality and versatility. Powertrain options include a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 with engine stop-start (ESS) and, new for 2021, the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine with ESS. Equipped with a versatile box, a body-on-frame design, front and rear five-link suspension system, solid axles and electronic lockers, Gladiator is one of the few midsize trucks to offer a six-speed manual transmission in addition to its available eight-speed automatic.

Gladiator is built to handle the demands of an active lifestyle while delivering an open-air driving experience in a design that is unmistakably Jeep. A multitude of technology features, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and safety features, such as Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection, adaptive cruise control and Forward Collision Warning-Plus, further Gladiator’s appeal. Combining traditional Jeep attributes with strong truck credentials, the Jeep Gladiator is a unique vehicle capable of taking passengers and cargo anywhere.

New for 2021:
  • Diesel power will be offered across the Gladiator lineup with a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 with ESS

  • Gladiator Sport now offers LED headlamps and fog lamps as optional equipment
Highlights:

And they failed again to talk about the payload and towing capacity of the diesel. Shocker. But the paragraph right before they reiterated the 3.6 capability lol.

This is getting to be like those old Tootsie Pop commercials, "the world will never know."

Nacho and Gecko! Cool to hear the new colors.

Wish they would release the payload and towing capacity on the Diesel.
Im taking this as its not as impressive as they thought and exactly why Im on hold before ordering. All that torque wont help me if Im at my max payload with 400lb tongue weight of trailer, 2 adults & 2 large dogs. They have another 30 days to release the info, after that they’ll be losing 2 new jeep sales in my household.

This article says the diesel can tow 6,000 pounds because of the 3.73 rear across all trims.

Im not worried about the towing only 6k estimated. Its the payload piece Im concerned with if going with a JTR diesel. If they bumped the GVWR up to 6450 whoch is 200lb increase, I know that diesel, DEF system and emissions crap weighs more than 200lbs increase from the 3.6, which leads me to believe it’ll be a decrease in payload from the current JTR. But how much decrease is what I want to know.

i dont want to be at my max Payload with winch, steel front bumper, 2 adults (300lbs), 2 dogs (140lbs) & 400lb tongue weight.

If you also get the Diesel in the Rubicon then you don't get the 4:1 Transfer case. Very troubling that Jeep appears to be putting an engine in with capability that it's drive line and chassis can't handle. At least it appears that way.
