FYI, I didn't vote yet or read past the options for the poll. BUT, this is my first JEEP and so far I'm not impressed with the power, torque band or much what so ever. I find vehickes of similar soze amd weight I've owmed and/pr droven regularily have as much or more power (or feel of it) and get better mileage too. I did however, not buy it for towing, or big power or speed so I shouldn't be disappointed that it hasn't proven to be super awesome in that aspect. We finally got a bunch of snow this past weekend (weird this year it didnt happen til now, not complaining though) and after work today I took it out and marked the edge of the trails (which I've usually done in much heavier trucks anyway) but it did it's job, so no complaints. Now motor wise, I'll read through this thread eventual and scare myself with some of the thoughts no doubt but for now, I duno I'll just drive it and maintain it as good as I normally do my daily drivers (probably better than I need to) and time will tell. I know whats worked in the past and if takin proper care of it doesnt work then I'll find out. Got me curious now the thoughts for all yall that might have some JEEP experience and your thoughts though...

I don’t really know. My 13’ was garbage, but they’ve gotten better. So I asked Bing AI what it thinks about the 3.6. Here’s what it produced.

Now just to be fair, I also asked it about the Motori Ecodiesel….

I've had several Jeeps of various flavors with the 4.0, then when the 3.6 came out, we started buying Grand Cherokees with the 3.6
We've had first and 2nd generation 3.6 engines, at least a half dozen of the 2nd gen (upgrade or "PUG" Pentastar 3.6) and so far, not a single actual engine issue. Everything has been either some accessory thing (spark plugs) or a PCM issue (it didn't learn CCDIFF so forcing a relearn fixed that)

I do tow and I plow snow (our own, not for profit) and it's fine. The truck stops moving due to the sheer weight of the snow and traction before the engine pukes out.
Don't be afraid to let it get into the 3,000-4,000 RPM ranges. People seem to think it needs to stay below 3,000 RPM like the engines of the 1980s. That's wrong. Heck, my Chevy Silverado LS engine had to wind up a bit tighter to tow the same cars up the same hills.

I probably tried 10 or more permutations of prompts trying to get the guy to be hugging the pig and could never get it to work. Dall E could only make super weird looking stuff.

I answered a few weeks ago that it was a good engine. My 2020 gave me zero issues.

Ironically, took my 23 in for it's first oil change this morning, has a little over 4700 miles. I walked next door to have breakfast as I usually do. My service advisor calls before I even have my food...

He says there is a flag on my vin, to replace all 12 lifters?? Said it's about a 7 hr job. Gave me a loaner and sent me on my way. Odd because I thought this one was even quieter then my last one. He was very careful not to call it a recall, said it was an MRA on a very small batch of 23s, but mine was one of them. Anyone heard of this?

I can't decide if I'm happy or sad about it. I guess if Stellantis figured it out I'm glad mine got caught early in its life? Gave me a nice Ram to drive too.

Once I have the paperwork when I pick it up I'll post a shot of it.

Happen to know what "MRA" means? Have not heard that acronym before.

Not a clue, and I might have misheard him over the phone. Didn't say recall, and it sure didn't sound like "TSB" either. Whatever it is I'll post the paperwork when I have it. Hopefully tomorrow if things go well.

Poked around and found the attached document. Page 3 and 4 talk about "MRA-Material Return Authorization". Seems to be the system the dealers use for processing warranty reimbursement to them from FCA.

Huh, that must be it. Good find! Can't wait to see what the paperwork says, hopefully that will shed more light on it.

Day later then promised, just got my truck back. Here's the paperwork if it's helpful to anyone. The service advisor said it only applied to a select few trucks? Hopefully this means my cams will live a long healthy life.
