I have always wondered if the JL and JT would have benefited more keeping the GEN 1 Pentastar? Just seems more sorted past 2015-2016.

Less HP and torque. Then there's them silly fine for cafe ........I have always wondered if the JL and JT would have benefited more keeping the GEN 1 Pentastar? Just seems more sorted past 2015-2016.
You didn't have follower roller issues? I thought everyone had failed cams in the jkI had a 2015 JKU not one seconds problem![]()
Nope , 78,000 when I traded it in ran Amsoil and filters and never a minutes problemYou didn't have follower roller issues? I thought everyone had failed cams in the jk
Would it really? The Gen 1 in the Wrangler was mated to the 5 Speed NAG 1 transmission. Had it been mated the ZF 8 speed, probably would have been comparable. The same engine and transmission combo soldiered on in the RAM 1500 classic just fine.Less HP and torque. Then there's them silly fine for cafe ........
Does anyone here want a v6 with lower HP or torque numbers? Raise your hand ....
I bet you ran 5w30 in it and not the factory recommended 5w20. With the 5w20, it would have quit and been melted down for scrap by now.Nope , 78,000 when I traded it in ran Amsoil and filters and never a minutes problem
Nope I ran exactly what was on the oil cap and in the manual. SorryI bet you ran 5w30 in it and not the factory recommended 5w20. With the 5w20, it would have quit and been melted down for scrap by now.
(He, he, he ... this should get the party going).
Well, yeah, I can see that......... but was it really, with the follower roller issues? This guy would if it meant better reliability.
No disagree , the just need to do a redesign that will not incorporate a flat tapping style high lift. Would love to know if zddp would kill a 3.6They should’ve shifted the torque to the left even if it cost hp.
Too much will kill any engine.Would love to know if zddp would kill a 3.6
I used to add lead substitute additive to my gasoline tank in the 390. Ran valvoline oil.Too much will kill any engine.
And - more only does one thing - it prolongs how long you can run the oil. It doesn't protect better, just longer, but then again - too much actually destroys iron/steel parts.
There's way too much talk of ZDDP - especially with modern oils and engines. Yes, it's good, yes it helps but only to a point.
Other chemistries have taken over since the year 2000
I've got a comp xtreme cam in my 4.0, had one in my 390 and never once bothered with adding zddp or looking for the oil with the most. I chose a well-balanced oil chemistry and that was that.
