I went wheeling last weekend with the new 35" BFG KO2's with a 2.5" front level but no rear lift. If you value your rear fenders, they will not fit with the stock bump stops. I had to back out as the rear tires were wedged against the stock flairs. It is a wonder they didn't break.

I'll be looking into a small rear spring lift and longer bump stops.

The wheels are 17x9 with 0mm offset, tires are 315/70r17 BFG KO2.

how did these tires hold up for you? I am looking at them now. They are very inexpensive by comparison with the fancy label tires. I did read reviews on simpletire.com the start rating is there but they do not come highly recommend

Hey Kevin. Any updates on these that would make you reconsider? I’m thinking about getting either these or the Nitto Ridge Grapplers and I want to keep the stock wheels on my Rubicon.

I can't say enough good things about them. I currently have put 30,000 miles on them. Three interstate trips of over 1000 miles, pulled a 4000lb TT over 1000 miles, aired down to 18psi on numerous off road trips and stay around 32psi for normal every day driving.

So far the tread depth wear is minimal. No cuts of punctures. They balanced well and I've never had to re-balance yet. They are quiet and have only had a slight decibel increase as they have worn.

My concern from day one - If I did get a un-repairable cut/puncture, how and where would I be able to source a new tire quickly. These tires are not stocked at the big dealers and when you do find them in stock they seem to sell out quick. If/when I'm ready to buy new tires, I may get five to have a spare and rotate it in with the four.

I still don't understand why tire manufacturers do not make this size. It is perfect for the JT and JL.

I like them.

Thanks for that update. I bought five today from Wally World for $238.29 per tire. They arrive in 2 weeks. Looking forward to getting them on.

I just picked up a new set for my winter setup in Montana. I run a ton of snow and ice conditions each week in the winter. I tend to run dedicated summer/winter sets on their own rims so I can do the switch at will, using my winters as a way to see if I really want 35s. I've ran the ATx in the past but not studded, pretty excited for winter this year and see how they do:

  • Method 703 Beadgrip 17x8.5 at 0 offset/4.5 BS (thinking about Clayton arms, they require a 4.5" BS)
  • General Grabber ATx 35x12.5r17, about the only 3peak+studdable over 33" (Duratrac is the other one, Nokkian has true winters in a 35 if you can find them)
  • Stockish suspension, the camper + my typical recovery gear is ~400lbs, OEM steel bumpers w/winch (synth line). The back coils have airsprings and a 3/4" spacer to eliminate the sag.
I did a test fit with the front only ("unique" photo below), put them on a small ramp (10" high) and disconnected, no rub and full lock. There's about 2" of space to the stock control arms, crazy. True rub test will be on some of typical trailheads I drive to once the snow falls, get some good articulation and slick...

EDIT: Every indication states the Grabber ATx's in a 35x12.5r17 is a true 35, on my 8.5 wide rims at 37lbs PSI they measure right at 34" and 12.5" wide at the tread blocks. Crazy, General's specific specs say they measure at 35, oh well. Pays to tape measure before updating the Tazer.

Mixed on the poke, there's +/- for me, I like a bit of poke when squeezing in trees and rocks, not a fan of the probably rocks/grime coming off of them, will probably get the recon extensions:

And for a "true" comparison you don't see much (stock 285/75r17 ATs on the back) ?:
