I have read many forum discussions on this site and Facebook in regards to the gladiator fuel overflow problem at the pump. Specifically allowing the pump to click off when full but fuel spilling out all over the fender.

I’ve only read a couple of posts in regards to people suggesting a solution from JEEP that worked to correct the problem.

Before I take this to the dealer, how common is this problem exactly? Has anyone even gotten it fixed 100%?

Do you guys just deal with it and accept it as a JEEP thing?

It may be my imagination but I think when I have the truck on a slight downhill it doesn't overflow. I also run it on slowest mode when finishing up the tank. As usual YMMV

SinceJuly 2020 it has done it once on my Glady, but my wife's old 2010 JK did it everytime and under warranty soon after buying it they found the vent tube was bent from factory restricting the airflow of vent. That might be worth a look .....Jack

This isn't the best place to get a determination of it being a common problem, since many come here looking for answers to problems. For chronic problems, replacing the fill neck or vent tube appears to fix it.

I only had it happen once on my 2020 Overland, and that was before they changed all the pump handles to the fume capture type. I fill on the slowest setting, and only put a small amount in after the automatic shut-off.

Happened once, but I credit that to the pump being turned up wayyyyy too high.

It only happens on mine under certain conditions. Usually it's when the tank is really empty and the pump is running fast and it shuts off really suddenly. I get that because it's going to cause a bounce in the fuel stream.
I have to wonder, since my 2020 never did this and my 2022 only started doing this a few months ago, if it's an emissions vent/canister thing - the air isn't venting out of the tank fast enough and it's building pressure.

I've seen at least 2, perhaps 3, different posts about solutions and each was different.

I've noticed it's worse on some nozzles than others - some just wait until the last second and then kill the flow so fast after running gas in as fast as they can........

Consensus? unlikely at this point.

It has happened on mine but it appears to be more determined by the pump than the truck. And I NEVER top off after it shuts off.

The few times it has happened to me, it has 90% of the time been a few local stations and specific pumps at those stations. I just try to remember and avoid those specific pumps.

Happened from the very first fill up. Lifting the nozzle while pumping helps.

If I hear the gas bubbling up the neck, I stop it manually.

I can’t go to RaceTrac or QT pumps. Not sure what it is, but it will overflow every time.

Also if I’m feeling frisky I’ll rock the jeep as it fills. Maybe a placebo but feels like it helps.

Hasn't happened to me a single time. I've had the JT for almost 4 years now.

Hope you dont tell your wife you do that. Thats crazy, you think its specific fuel pumps and avoid them,...i need to delete the internet. What are you afraid of? What happpens if your out of town and all the pumps look suspicious...
I see your star is burning twice as bright.

Huh? you totally missed his point.
I'm with @Hootbro
There are a couple of stations locally I try to avoid and in one case, it's the pumps on one side of the island I stay away from. 90% of the time mine is fine, but at some of the older pumps - and you can tell by the nozzle and pump conditions, it's more of a problem.
How the truck is parked seems to matter as well. I always try to park with the truck in a certain position.
i've learned over these last 2 years to recognize local stations and pumps that may be more of a problem.
i tell my wife to look for U88 for her Jeep as those are always newer pumps at newer stations and the nozzles are better, not so abrupt.
Not sure how long they'll be selling U88 though as the EPA has problems with it in the summer.

If out of town, we avoid certain stations based on the appearance of the station and the pump and look toward places with newer pumps and nozzles.
it's really not that hard! Be observant. I know exactly what he means.

QT is top tier and around here are typically some of the better stations - not all of them, but the closest to me, anyway.
Haven't seen the RaceTrac name since we drove out of Florida but if I recall, that's the place with the fantastic frozen yogurt or whatever it was. Gotta stop there for treats even if not for gas.

Agreed on QT and Racetrac. Use both exclusively for my other cars currently, but the jeep can’t take it.

Racetrac also has great hot dogs for a road trip!
