So I just joined the Gladiator club a little over two weeks ago and I've been pretty happy with it, except for one issue. The first time I took it on the highway, I noticed some pretty loud whistling/wind noise on the driver side once I hit 60kmh (about 40mph). Not a big deal, I though I'll take it in and they'll cover it under warranty. So I had it in last week and they replaced the seal along the top of the windshield. They called me after and said that the whistling is still present, but that I could come pick it up as they are waiting on parts for the next fix. After picking up my JT I quickly noticed a scratch on the windshield. It's fairly small and faint, but doesn't feel great to have a new vehicle get a scratch from what should be a small warranty fix. But then when I was looking over it today, I noticed scratches on the driver door where they pried open the door panel. Since it's the weekend I haven't had a chance to speak to service dept. yet, but I was wondering what do you guys think is reasonable for me to expect in this scenario? I really like my new JT and I'm coming from owning 2 JKU's in the past, but this whole scenario just has me a little pissed off.

Why were they taking your door panel off? Was there something else they were fixing?

Good question, I have no idea why they'd be doing that. They said the think the wind noise might be due to a bad driver side door seal so they've ordered a new one. Still not sure why they would want to look behind the panel.

Yeah, they damage it, they fix it as good as new. Looks like they damaged the interior panel as well.

Hopefully they stand behind it and don’t try and pass it off as previous damage or done by others. Let us know what the end result is!

So you went through the inconvenience of taking your Jeep in for repairs, nothing fixed and your new Jeep scratched/damaged. :crying: I'm sorry they messed up your Jeep and hope they make things right, but I'm very irritated because I believed they hoped you would never notice!

I’d be mad as shit. Why can’t someone own up to their mistake and correct it BEFORE they give it back? It sounds like they didn’t even have the decency to tell you about the damage on top of hoping you wouldn’t even notice... Worthless.

I’ve always been wary of this sort of stuff. I’m always hesitant to have warranty work done on anything less than a real problem because I’m afraid they will screw something up worse in the process. This goes for any vehicle, not just this one.

(Not to suggest you problem isn’t a real problem. I have no idea.)

Sadly I would expect some type of damage anytime I take my vehicle in for service. They don’t care or are untrained, at a minimum I usually expect they drag their feet over the sills and scuff the paint or lean on the body somewhere with exposed metal on their cloths, or overtighten/cross thread fasteners. I avoid dealer service at all costs, I have posted it before I wouldn’t take the Jeep wave oil changes if they paid me to to it.

Don't be surprised when they take touch up paint to cover it and then they tell you they repainted the area. And to fix the plastic door panel they will take some 400 grit sandpaper to take the scratch out. I'm just saying, don't be mad. You know that's exactly how this will go down. Make them buy a new door panel and actually repaint the area. It's an expensive purchase.

You are right to be pissed but when you take it in, just calmly point it out and hopefully they take ownership and take care of it. If you go in all gorilla on them, they can bow up and start to play games and try to deflect the issue.

I hate dealers for this exact reason. I've had body damage and even $ change and other stuff stolen while at a dealer for service.

One dealer I have used (different make) goes around the vehicle with a checklist looking for damage they can note ahead of time. Then they have you sign off. But, I always get out and take numerous photos while they go around and focus on wheels/ bumpers and door areas. I love that it pisses them off that I do it in front of them. When they gave me my one truck back with damage (hitch step was bashed which they don't include in their check-list) and claimed it wasn't them, I pulled up my photos and showed them it was mint when it arrived. I then told them I'd be happy to pull dash cam video showing the actual bump. They then paid for a new one.

If the dealers don't come out to do a check, I take photos as I pull into the dealer and before I go in that show the dealership background. That shows my truck is undamaged when I got there. It sucks that I feel I have to even do this.
