Anyone have any ideas of current companies that make a rail type of system for a truck bed or have plans to make one for the Gladiator?

I figure I don't need the outlet because it has one inside the cab and can always get aftermarket boxes for underseat storage. I don't think the package is worth $800 so I'm looking for aftermarket alternatives. I'm wondering if it bolts up to existing holes or will need to be drilled when installed.

Okay here i go. Go to lows in the electric materials get some rail for industrial mounting of equipment. This costs about 16$ a 10 ft joint. check the bolt size in the bed side. Then buy some Allen head cap bolt that fits the nut. Cut and measure to size. To mount equipment get spring nuts in the size you want to use, then use some acme instructions to assemble, Cut, bend, fit to suit.

Hi-lift makes a bed-rail system...I’ve got one sitting in my Jeep Parts Pile (new, in the packaging). Not sure how it would go into the Gladiator yet, but it’s supposed to be a universal kit that you simply cut to size and bolt in.

It’s interesting that you should ask this today of all days. Earlier today I got a call from a local Jeep dealer to tell me that he just got in 2 Gladiator’s. They were both Rubicons. One had the trail rail system and the other one did not. I took a close look between the bed of the truck and the cab of the truck. And behind each bolt was a nut welded to the inside of the bed. So if you can just order the 3 rails then it would take you maybe a total of 5 minutes to bolt the 3 rails into place. This may be of interest to any base Sport buyers since the trail rail system is not an option on that model. Fifty million dollar question is: Can you order these 3 rails from a Jeep parts department?

That is good news because it makes making aftermarket rails that accept similar parts pretty easy to install. I'll have to check out the hi lift system.

Did the JTR without the trail rail system still have the welded tie down loops in the lower part of the bed!?

Yes it did, 2 in the front and 2 in the back. And FYI where you can see daylight in the attached picture there is no nut welded to the backside the bed. However on the truck that did have the trail rail system there was a bolt going through that hole, no clue what holds to in place. Perhaps it is some sort of self tapping bolt. Not certain.

Please see the holes in the yellow areas. I am almost willing to bet that Jeep put welded nuts into those holes so you can mount a bed extender there.

Core Trax, Anchortrax, and VersaTrack are all basically L track with brand names and marketing. It’s probably a lot cheaper, and definitely more flexible to just buy your own L track and accessories.

A great example are those L track tie down straps from the company that @ACAD_Cowboy linked to - they don’t come with most brand name kits I’ve seen, and look pretty sweet. Also, more choices in rail types (I like the look of the angled stuff).

Do note that you will very likely have to drill holes in your rails to match the location of the weld nuts, but that is preferable to drilling new holes in your bed.

I'm noticing myself backing out of alot of the optional equipment. Back when everything was new I had almost a fully loaded truck then came to my senses and slowly told myself you really don't need this or that or there will be an aftermarket for that. It's amazing how much that price dropped :surprised:

Oh yeah, it’s also worth noting that L track is what they use in the top of the Decked drawers, so if you’re thinking of getting those, L track will give you a single standard for compatibility on all of your tie down points.
