Haha, as a 90’s baby I’m trying here!
It shows :giggle: ;)
Kidding.
My #2 car was a 72 T-bird 429 w 4 barrel carb run faster than I wanted to go then. But loved the gas stations.

I've been a network engineer for over 30 years. I know the past issues with CGNAT, and see zero evidence of any current issues with it or Starlink. I run a VoIP service now, and used to be really pestered by double NAT and CGNAT. Works fine now.

I would buy this in a split second if I didn't already have 1Gx35M at home. I've considered it anyway because of the 150M upload, and we send a lot of stuff to our servers.
The upload speed is amazing, crazy fast. As I do handle admin functions for a forum, I also do a lot of uploads besides the usual downloads. Try making a SQL backup and downloading it for testing or testing on my local server or whatever. Doing updates takes time.

So if you have no public or internet outside address, how would you address port mapping like this on a home router? I have to put in the internet address of the public side and the local private address of the device on the inside............. doesn't work because of the cell double NATting.
Jeep Gladiator Am I the only one who thinks Jeep should’ve included an in dash CD player? port-mapping

(I only did network security, routers, ASAs, LAN-to-LAN (Cisco, Juniper) and so on, handled the Juniper core switch, our NCP VPN server and so on - wouldn't call myself a network engineer, really and not any 30 years for sure so I know you blow me out of the water with this. )

When I graduated HS in 70 I got a 69 Mustang Boss 302 with a factory 8 track. I bought a 74 CJ 5 new while I was in the army it had a 8 track. My wife's 06TJ has a CD as does my 09 F250. Sill have a ton of CDs, I wish I had one on my JT.

Was checking out the Ram site today to see if they had Tuscadero, Silver Zynith, or Earl Grey listed as being available yet. Figured I’d build me a 1500 Crew Cab all decked out while I was there, just to see how much cheaper it would be compared to a Jeep. Well I’ll be damned, guess what comes with their premium audio system!?! The infamous CD player.
Probably not enough to make me jump ship over, just interesting that a vehicle $10,000 cheaper than a Jeep has a 9 speaker audio system with a CD player.

You probably can't. I don't even recall now if I have any port mappings any more, it has become irrelevant with today's services that do an outbound connection. So I can still run the home automation stuff remotely, because Homekit built an outbound tunnel. Cameras are the same. Security system...same, reaches out to the monitoring and I can connect inward without a port map.

Running a home web server like you are is not going to work.

It's not a "web server" per se. It's my DVR........... I can use it to watch recorded content, watch local TV, etc. from anywhere in the world if I could contact it remotely. Everyone who uses these things say it works perfectly - I'm the only one who can't, and it's been determined it is due to double-nat.

I've never tried to access our Plex server remotely, can't help with that one. It's supposedly active. I know that some of my friends are using home automation and related services remotely, but not sure if any are using a media server.

This isn't a Plex server. It's a hardware DVR with 4 tuners and a 2T drive. There's an app on our TV to access it and play recordings directly, as well as apps for my tablet, phone or laptop. (or can be accessed via a browser on a PC)

Interesting things coming up about starlink - those who signed up and said they were told "by the end of 2021" are now seeing their dates pushed to mid-to-late 2022. Some are saying they are getting "2023".
I checked for our area - it's not available and won't be until mid-2022.
I'd not jump in for a beta at those costs anyway, it's too fluid.

Those of you mentioning "sound quality," there is no reason you can't have that level of quality on your phone. Most of the streaming services now are offering "lossless" quality which is exactly the same as a CD. This isn't like a vinyl vs digital argument - it is literally the same file. CDs are just digital discs that hold files, and the file type they use is .wav. Absolutely no difference from using modern lossless formats.

From someone with Starlink in MN:

Snow ? Yes , I’ve had it almost a year now . Coming into its second winter.

couple things:

The dish gives off heat when plugged in
It’s coated , slippery
The dish angle is considerable

It's not a waterproof thing, as they had cd players until this generation. Our JK does. I wish mine had a CD player, but honestly, not many vehicles come with them anymore. My last 2 did not have CD players either. CDs have kind of gone the way of the cassette.
Which one? 8 Track? :)

Only one tape was ever referred to as the "Cassette" -

8 track was never referred to in that manner - it was a cartridge.

I have a friend who lives out in the middle of nowhere and his speeds and latency are really good. I was actually about to get it myself but fiber was installed on my street about 2 months before my invite got approved. I still might if they authorize it for mobile use. Like the idea of it as a backup and for my camper. Work has traumatized me with the amount of fiber cuts we see, lol. I don't trust fiber.

As time goes on I see them offering public IP addresses at some point. I saw public IPv6 will be something down the road for sure.

CGNAT works pretty good. I actually split my home traffic and everything goes out via the CGNAT with remote access going over my public IP. Only issue I run into is occasionally having to validate with google due to malicious traffic from the shared ip
