On their tailgate? Does it mess up paint rubbing or any other issues?

What brand do you use?

I am tired of the black plastic bags I use while cleaning up on the trails.

TIA

I know they make em, never seen em on a pickup that didn't have a swingout mounted spare. I've been considering one but I'm right with ya on it may facefuck the paint. or affect its ability to fully open due to bumper interference

Even with a trasharoo you still ideally need to line it with a trash bag. That’s how I do mine, but I guess you could get away without one. However most trasharoo like products have two holes on the bottom of the bag for draining water, so smaller garbage could probably fall out without a bag. Maybe you could find a way to plug the drain holes.

Personally I haven’t used my trasharoo on my gladiator yet, I also worry about damaging the paint. I might just get a big roll of PPF and do half of the tailgate. It would be nice to not have trash bags take up space in the bed.

Trasharoo or not, I always tie the bag off and hang it from a tree far away from camp due to being in bear country.

Why not get something that hangs on your bed rail, on perhaps two hooks , easy to get to, easy to take out, and easy to remove and easy on the wallet, I have a small recycling square trash can just inside my tailgate inside my cap, with a bag in it and just toss the bag and put another in…..Jack

I think Ozark runs an Atalier https://www.atelierxa.com/ but I don’t see that they ship to the U.S. I was going to order one as I don’t know when I’ll next be in CA. You can call them.

I just installed an Overland Gear Guy one. They say in the instructions that it can scratch the paint. But the OGG uses a panel down the back that’s secured tightly so that the bag won’t rub the tailgate directly to minimize this. It’s a nice touch. However I had to modify mine, because of my HDPE tailgate cover and minimal clearance for the slide outs.

I cut the panel and screwed it into the underside of the tailgate cover to make it all work. Now the panel hangs off the back instead of being secured tightly. The bag is secured tightly though. We’ll see how it does. Personally I don’t care if the paint gets scratched. The truck is a tool. I’ve got pinstripes all down the side of the truck from off roading in Virginia.

The OGG bag is very well made and heavy duty. I would definitely use these to hold trash bags. Don’t throw trash directly in them. That would make a nasty mess. I always carry regular kitchen trash bags and there’s a big front pocket to hold them. Also when I’m in bear country I use a Rothco top loading duffle that I can hang from a tree. These tailgate bags or their spare tire cousins don’t really have provisions for hanging from a center point.

There’s also no reason you can’t attach these to a rack.

That's a hell of a rig, man. I love it!

If only the gladiator had a bed for easy storage of garbage bags...
We use the trasharoo on the JLUR all the time, but I don't want potentially stinky garbage in the vehicle. Also I don't have to worry about scratching paint. That being said, a regular contractor bag is much more convenient, holds more, and can easily be tossed in the 1st dumpster when we drive through a town. The trasharoo is harder to both put trash in and remove trash from. You can't carry it around and pick up trash like a normal bag, and I wouldn't put trash directly in it anyway. In my opinion it would be more trouble than it's worth on a truck.

I bought a 40 L dry bag off eBay for 12 bucks. I hang that off the truck when camping and use it for trash with the trash bag clipped inside it. When I’m done with it, I can roll at the top and clip it close so it’s airtight and no stinky garbage smell comes out.

you can see it in the picture there. The big orange bag.

Go get a couple ikea bags and put the trash in them. They are cheap as hell and super durable. Those kangaroo bags never stop stinking if you spill something

Can you still "baja" with that camping setup? I always tell myself i'll do a rig like that, But then I realize I have a Mojave and I like jumping and hitting sand at 80+. I don't wanna lose that.
