Well, looks like the 285s are 32.6”. Standard BFG sizing!

Wheel width will also impact tire height on the vehicle a little bit. When I switch out wheels, at the same pressure, same tires, I lost .2 inches in height.

You bet, but how many ppl do that?!
The rolling diameter is the only measurement that matters though? For speedo/computer calibration you need to measure with the weight on the tire, perpendicular to the ground. Measuring parallel is just to brag about how big your tires are... where it doesn't matter.

Check some Coopers. My set of Cooper Discoverer ATP 275/70R18 were just 1/8" from being true 33's before mounting. Mounted they measure out just under 32.25"

Tires are measured mounted on a specific wheel width at the max recommended sidewall pressure and they are classed by rounding up to the next size, whether thats standard or metric the same rules apply.

its crazy how much people obsess over this.

And they still don't measure up most times.

True. I can't say that I have even seen the manufacturer's spec sheet that claims actual diameter of 35 or 37". I really doubt that metrics are any more accurate.

That's why oval tires are the best.

In all seriousness, if you want tires that measure actual 37" tires, look at the data sheets. You may actually need 38x12.50s.

Like others have said, rarely do tire size match what's on the sidewall. I have read that BFG ATs have a reputation of running the smallest

Jesus what a confusing thread. 285 is the tire width and the second number is a percentage of the width. Multiply that by 2 and add your rim diameter for a rough size estimate. K03's come in different aspect ratios for 285 width so simply saying 285's are such and such diameter is so vague and I wonder how many people in this thread really have an understanding of tire sizes because I don't see any mention of aspect ratios, only widths.

All tires are undersized. My new 37" KO2's measured 35-1/8" before I left Discount Tire.
That was measured installed with the weight on it? They show 36.5" on the site but I would think that is lose lying on the side measurement.

If you want the diameter that the vehicle sees do this. Measure the distance of 1 revolution of the tire on the ground at full PSI and mounted to the vehicle. Then divide that distance by 3.14. That's the true diameter of the tire.

I switched from 33" stock mojave Falken MTs to "37" KO2, reprogammed it and because they are so small and light, getting slightly better fuel econ than stock now..
