Now on the door frame sticker is the GVWR of 6250#
GAWP front 3100#
GAWP rear 3750#

In addition the tires are rated 1566# combined weight of occupants and payload.

My truck loaded with me, camping gear and tongue weight = 5609#

Weird... looks like ours is similar and only 30 lbs different, how much does the hard top weigh?
I haven't had the rear section off yet, but apparently it's pretty easy for one person to walk off. The freedom panels can't be more than 10 lbs each.

I just logged onto MOPAR.com to schedule my free oil change and noticed this about my vehicle:

Max Payload
1119 lb (507.79 kg)

Max Towing
7319 lb (3320.06 kg)

Has anyone else noticed this? I’m going to stick to under 7K just the same, but this was interesting to me.
15% of 7319 is 1097. So as long as the driver weighs 22 lbs. or less, and there is ZERO other gear on the truck, I guess it's possible.

I’m guessing the advertised tow and capacity ratings are the minimum for that trim level.

“.at least 7000lbs towing, may vary vehicle to vehicle” is more confusing than “7000lbs towing “

From some of the research I have done those specs are not the most accurate. WDH would also effect this as well. I have a 6200lbs trailer, but there is another sticker on it that seems less legit that says 6400, but the DMV registration says it only ways 4000lbs.... But then somebody clearly lightened up the bunk house in mine. All this to say is until you hit a scale with your WDH in optimal setup its really hard to see what your payload will truly be.

I would never tow without my Equalizer hitch, at least with the Gladiator. I probably didn’t need it for my F350, but wanted to be extra safe. In either case, I don’t see the WDH as allowing you to tow more than rated, just that it lets you tow the rated weight more safely.

Mine is not a max tow just a loaded out Overland with the upgraded towing . But here are my numbers if any other Overland guys are interested. I feel a little bit feeble with some of the numbers I have seen posted but I don’t tow anything too heavy anymore. Maybe about 4500-5000lbs at the upper end.

Right but it does put some weight back on the trailer axles. Which does give you some payload back, so it handles some of the issues but as you said does not give you more tow.

I looked at mine, and, atleast on mine, I figured out how they came up with the numbers.

I have a Overland and my numbers from the Mopar website are:

Max Payload: 1055 lb
Max Towing: 6355 lb

I know for the Overland (with tow package) the gvwr is 5800 lb. and the gcvwr is 11100 lb.
Subtracting the max payload from the gvwr gives my JT a curb weight of (5800-1055) = 4745 lb.
Subtracting the curb weight from the gcvwr gives me their advertised max towing (11100 - 4745 = 6355).

So, that advertised max towing does not include any modifications or cargo in the JT, nor does it include the weight of the driver (or passengers), or gas in the tank.

The interesting take-away from this is that we can see the curb weight of our JT as it rolled off the assembly line - but I wonder if that included fluids, battery, etc.

I have a loaded Overland without towing package.
Max payload is 1060 and max towing is 4910. It’s not an issue now but is there anything I can add to the truck in the future to raise the max towing?
