I don’t have the gas but I do have a tape measure. Last month, both batteries came out, I measured the cavity space where the small main battery sat and picked up the largest Optima battery that would fit that space with only an inch space to spare on the long side. I also upgraded the aux battery. I decided to keep that system.
I went with the 80 amp DH7 yellow top Optima. I think it was darn near $700 cad. You get what you pay for. I’d not pay somebody’s bargain sale price on batteries if I’m expecting long life out of it.

The diesel is still 12v so if you get the largest sized 12v you can to fit the space, you’re way ahead of the Mopar batteries.

Glad to know the optima will fit in place in the diesel. Probably will go this route as well.

Just replaced mine (again) last week....... Yes, most the application guides haven't been updated for the diesel, but 94R/H7 as others have posted up.

I first got an Odyssey as I wanted the very best and didn't think the LiFePO 4 would live in our hot environment and underhood temps. I also pulled the fuse and deleted the Aux battery to reduce the failure points. Unfortunately the Odyssey was defective out of the box and had to return it. After having to jump start my truck every morning on 3 separate occasions during a week period.

The Odyssey was special order from my local NAPA store and I figured I should just replace it with the regular East Penn AGM that any store would stock in case there was an issue sometime inside the 3yr period.

I know this is not the norm for a battery and it would be a first for me, but I was again reminded of why it's just not a good idea to install a specialty part that you depend on to a vehicle that travels. Even though it should be an upgrade, stuff still happens!

LiFePO 4 just shouldn't be used for a start or winch battery..for those that don't know.

How are the batteries on our Eco D's already going bad and warranty not covering this? At most they are 3 years old!!

I think some people like myself are being proactive and replacing the factory batteries with new so we hopefully don't experience the factory ones failing and leaving us stranded somewhere like so many have had happen.

They should be covered under the 3yr/36,000 miles. I had mine replaced at 15,000ish miles under warranty, never left me stranded but I am starting to see the “Stop Start Not Readry Battery Charging” message when driving around. Right before I had them replaced the last time, I was getting the “Aux switches unavaible, battery charging” at start up.

I probably would have been covered, but I wouldn't trust the dealer to do the job. They likely would decline because of the aftermarket wiring installed anyway? Then add in the time factor of dropping it off/picking it up.......They probably would have claimed it tested OK and need to keep it overnight?

Money well spend to do this on a weekend on my own time.

3Y 36000 miles can be a 1 year warranty for some of us. My JT was out of warranty (miles) before the end of the first year of owning it.
