I just installed the Baxter oil device on my 2023 Mojave, and drove it about 5 miles, and as soon as I came around the corner of my driveway, the "oil pressure low" alert came on, and smoke started rolling out of the hood, oil everywhere. I tried to determine if it was coming from the base of the baxter unit, but could not determine. I cleaned it up and got out the saved original filter and cap. Since there was no torque spec on the Baxter housing, except for a caution to not overtighten so you don't crack the housing I was careful to not overtighten. Instead of replacing with the original, I tried to retighten, and was able to get another 180 degrees rotation without significant force. I put everything back together, primed the oil system, and ran it in the driveway until all temps were up. IL took it on a short drive around the block, and forgot to cancel the auto-start like I usually do. At the first stop sign the engine shut off; but when I started off to accelerate, like topping off first gear, and shifting into second gear the oil Pressure shot way up, like 50-65 psi. I stopped accelerating and it calmed down to 31 psi. I tested this again. As long as the engine remained running (no auto-stop) the psi remained in the normal 31 psi during acceleration. As soon as I allowed it to auto-stop, then accelerate I got the huge psi jump to 50-65 psi. Please let me know if anyone else has experienced this?? I feel like changing back to the stock filter assy, since I am not even sure the oil came from the Baxter unit. With those high pressures, it may have come from somewhere else?

That's normal
RPMs above 3000 will kick in the high oil pressure
Mine will hit 70 psi

I think a solid true test would be to get an oil analysis on the engine when the change is due before the Baxter unit, then do another analysis when your oil change is due with the Baxter unit and compare the wear metals. That way, no one is speculating, even if the speculating is awesome.

Without even trying on my way home from dinner. Stock no Baxter adapter yet.

How to make money:

patent a jeep aftermarket part.

If the canister is full, that oil still isn’t reaching anything until the pressure from the pump forces into the next passage, etc. Folks are talking like it’s some magic gravity system.

If the canister is empty, that same pump, in less than a second, is going to force oil at 70-80psi through the canister and beyond.

the valve train, which is still coated (unless you’ve been sitting for months) doesn’t know the difference.

I think I might patent a heater hose heating element. Or a windshield washer pump priming bulb. Come to think of it, no one has made a pedal commander for the brake pedal yet-THAT is where the money is.

With the Baxter you have two anti drain back valves
One in the Baxter adapter and one in the oil filter
The factory has NO anti drain back valves
Do this simple test
Let your jeep set over night and then remove the oil filter
You wont find an oil filter dripping in oil and filter housing full of oil
What you will find is an almost dry filter and filter housing
Most of the oil from the filter housing and oil cooler has drained back to the oil pan
So now when you start your motor not only do you have to fill the oil cooler and filter housing put you also have to push all that air out of the oil galleys and that's a lot of air
Love my Baxter adapter and I only wish I had installed it sooner

Got mine installed to day. Oil pressure seems to be the same as before. No warning lights or any issues so far. I'll run it and report back.

Did you have to add extra oil or does the 5qt capacity stay the same?

Once I pressurized the system then let it idle for a few minutes, I was 1-quart low actually. I drove it around a bit and let it sit again. Still one quart low so I topped it off. Total system holds 6 quarts, I will let it sit for a few days to see if the level goes over.

1qt seems like a significant volume difference. The baxtet doesn’t appear large enough to support 1qt by its self but I haven’t held one ?‍♂

Filter itself holds a lot and everything that is no longer draining back down. When you check the oil it's not running? So with out baxter it takes a min for the whole system to drain back down. Baxter system doesn't let so naturally you will be low when checked.
