No. I’m thinking a 2” x 12” board divider to mount things to, like a molle panel, but made of wood. I’m also wondering if E track end sockets would help in some way. I can’t wait until my Gladiator comes in next week so I can do some actual experimenting.
Were you thinking of mounting the 2x12 where the Trail Rail system would go? If so there is a good thread in here where unistrut is used to make a DIY trail rail system for ~$130.

BTW: I had my Gladiator in the ADKs over the weekend, up in LP.

I ordered an E-Track system that I’m going to bolt to the 2’x12’. System rails, and anchors clips came to $72. 2’x12’ will run me about $15. $10 for can of bed spray and I have a system for tie downs for less than $100.

Cool that you were up here! I just picked up my Gladiator today! I’m in Keene, right near LP. You probably drove right by!

This is my DIY bed divider system. It cost under $100 and is SOLID. Right now, I will use it to help tie down 2 kayaks and separate groceries in the back portion of the bed. Before I use it for off road/overland, I’ll have to pad the top gap with padding (movers’ furniture gliders cut to size) covered with Gorilla tape. Then it won’t move at all. The 2"x 12" does indeed fit with a little bit of sanding for the bottom indent - Enzo, I think you owe me that beer!

The hooks (I have 5 more to install on the inside) and e-tracks are rated for 500lbs. However, I think the 1/4" bolts that are holding the rails would be closer to 200-250lbs. Either way - plenty strong for what I need!

@ADK Tiro How long is your 2"x12"? It looks snug.

I had to cut it to size. I can’t remember the measurements, but something like 53". I bought an 8’ plank and had them cut it to 60". Then I cut it down. Then I had to sand the bottom corners. That still left a gap in the top, but I bought furniture slide material and Gorilla tape to fix that. It is very snug!

Wow some of you go all out! This is a great addition though. One of the first thinks I did was cut a 2x8, but whenever I get time I want to paint it and maybe add some handles, and throw all the stickers I have laying around on it. Plus then you have a board to help support a jack if ever need be.

That’s really slick. Looks like I’ll need to buy a 2x8 and get after it.

I just cut a couple of 2x4s, spray-painted 'em red, and keep them in the slots. Be nice if I could mount molle panels and still be able to remove the boards if needed....

Made this bed partition/grocery holder/plywood-drywall holder in between zoom meetings today (it was at lunch time! in case my boss asks - he owns a JL).
Owner's Manual call for 2 2x4's but why go that route when you can use a 2x8 and trim 1/4" off of it.

I may add holes and slots for bungee cords to tie smaller things down after figuring out what I use and need the most (only got the truck yesterday).

If anybody wants to take some of the guessing game out, see below for measurements.
Cut one 2x8 at 57 5/8" in length. Cut the bottom corner (3/4" in, at 45 degrees - that'll allow the piece (and weight on top) to rest on the bottom of the bed, not the rounded corners.
Then the handles were made with a 2 ½” hole saw and a jig saw.
I then rounded everything over with a router and gave it all a quick sanding before painting.

For carrying sheet materials, you'll also need a 2x4 cut at 50" long. Laying flat, you will need to trim the corners coming in contact with the bed for the same reasons we cut them in the other piece.

This took me 45 min from start to finish (I even made a second set for a friend). I didn't use treated lumber as this is a quick fix for now and my bed cover is arriving later this week. It’ll do the job for now until I come up with a nicer and better design.

I'm doing the math in my head and I'm trying to figure out your comment about the 2x8 board. If you stack two 2x4s, the height should 7" (right?). Shaving a 1/4" off a 2x8 would yield a height of 7 1/4" (I think?). Realizing 1/4" of an inch isn't a big deal when stacking sheets of plywood, did you find 7 1/4" was better than 7"?

I ordered a cedar 2x8 from the local lumber yard. Should have it Monday. Dad’s got a nice woodworking shop so by next weekend we should have it done.

Best laid plans and all….. I spent all last week in the hospital with a really nasty gallbladder. Surgery last Wednesday. Just checked with the lumber yard today. Cedar board came in yesterday. Price is $77 for a 2x8 rough cut 8’. Didn’t think that was too bad. Picking it up on Monday and will start work on it when my surgeon clears me. My freaking gallbladder was going gangrenous!
