I'm scheduling an appointment for this month to talk about this. My dealership gave me no issues with the steering TSB. So I'm going to request to test drive a couple Gladiators to connect my phone to and see if it has the same issues.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Please let me know when you plan on visiting a dealership for this concern. I would be happy to open a case for you.

The issue is that this is likely a problem that ALL Gladiators have and that EVERYONE is suffering from ... Many dont use it enough to worry about it and others like me just unpair their phone and go about our business ...

Mine does EXACTLY what the others are describing which leads me/us to believe (probably rightly so) that this is common to all of them and is a bug or engineering issue... Many of us are engineers ourselves and have a pretty good feel for this stuff ...

And honestly I've been to my dealer before .... These guys are mechanics, not computer or electronics experts ... No one wants to go in there and have them waste their time and more importantly OUR time for something that JEEP should be releasing a TSB or RECALL for and giving the dealers clear direction on exactly how to fix it ..

These dealers can MOSTLY follow directions ... Asking them to troubleshoot something that is rooted in bad design or software is an exercise in futility ...

I took my truck in today for service and they told me basically it's a jeep thing and they haven't heard that complaint before. Ultimately said there is nothing they could do about it.

I have the same issue. it seems that had they located the hands free microphone anywhere in the cabin other than above the windshield, this would not be a problem. I would love for someone with more technical expertise than me to come up with a relocation strategy.

I also think if they had used a higher end mic with noise cancelling it may have helped. Would be great to what brand and model they used.

Yeah, bluetooth calls sound fine in my '12 JKR soft top, maybe a little background noise. Bluetooth calls in my JT soft top are just terrible.

My thoughts. There's only 1 mic in my JKR, and 2 in my JT. The position of mic in my JKR is on the windshield surround right at the rear view mirror. On the JT their over your head on the driver and passenger side. I think the dual mics, coupled with where they are, just pick up a lot more of the noise.

Great insight and thanks for sharing. Really frustrating.

They replaced my Microphones and it improved greatly. The caller can now hear what I'm saying and we're able to have a conversation. They still report background noise but it is not drowning out what I'm saying to the point where I have to put a headset on.

I have a better conversation with my phone unpaired on the floor of the Jeep. Definitely the worst Bluetooth phone microphone I have ever had. "Come on man", Jeep, you can do better!

The dealer was amazing and swapped out my microphones it is a little better but not much. Definitely a design issue.

It's actually gone back to the same thing for me. I've been back to the dealership for next options which they may replace the I connect unit but I don't think that's going to work either

I think you are correct it is not the unit. I think it is cheap microphones or bad design and placement. Please Let me what what happens.
