Just came back from a camping trip. Silliest problem was not being able to get my phone/camera charged without starting the Gladiator. Only have found very old threads bout this. Has anyone found an easy solution for a constant ‘on’ 12v source like our cigarette lighters used to be?

Thanks.

If you have USB charge cords for both, the USB in the dash are always hot. Learned this after leaving phone plugged in all day while at work and I came back out and phone light was green showing full charge and plugged in.

The Jackery solar chargers are pretty cool but also a little pricey.

I have one of those I use on camping trips. That thing is great. I have the 300 model. Yes bit costly but a very nice unit.

Has a mode for power with the ignition off until battery voltage drops below 11.6v. If I were to use it for charging devices, I'd connect a battery backup device like this and charge from that. Tiny little Tesla Wall for the truck. I ACTUALLY use it to power the dashcm.

I have a previous gen Anker battery pack without the USB-C charging option, but this one specifically retains the micro-USB charging option.

I can tell you that mine absolutely is. I use it for CarPlay and always forget my phone is in the console for hours; upon return, it's always fully charged.

Unfortunately neither the dash usb nor the console usb are powered when my JTRubi powers off. The alternative power suggestions may be an easy solution. I am going to look into the always on lighter - thanks @b-roc.

If you want an always "on" lighter, here is the $25 solution that I used

https://www.cooltechllc.com/wrangler-parts-accessories/111-jl-powerport-kit.html

Super simple (all of the work is in the fuse box ... see the yellow wire in the photo) The seller claims that it takes 5 minutes to install ... they aren't exaggerating by much

would this work or is there a way to make some or all of the usb ports stay "hot" while the Jeep is off? I no longer have the cig. lighter as I had the brake controller installed there.

I read that it stays on for 60 min or so and then shuts off

If you have the aux switch group there is a battery hot wire in the cab. You could easily wire in a plug always hot.

sadly i had the dealership install the aux switches after the fact so in the cab is only the 4 wires for the switches and not the accy and constant one. Had those in my JL and it was VERY convenient.
