2021 Mojave, 16K mi. with original batteries. Occasionally having to charge the auxillary. Hand surgery coming up so wanting to rig a charger maintainer such as the Norco or Battery Tender that would be easy access & maintain both at rhe same time if possible. Can thie hookup be done under hood then running 12v charge cord to the grill ?
Plan B is to use the trailer hitch IF it will charge both.
I know I need to replace the batteries but with the upcoming surgery it may be a while getting to that.
Thanks in advance!

The two batteries are electrically connected whenever the PCR is closed, which is 100% of the time when the ignition is switched off. Connecting a maintenance charger to the main battery or through the seven pin trailer plug will charge both batteries.

Yes you can hook up under the hood. Just be sure to add the charger pigtail to the top side of the block on the negative terminal.

Yes you can charge through the +12 in the trailer connector, but stay under a 10amp charge. The fuse is a 30amp fuse, but the drop from longer wiring and wire size you want to avoid anything over 10amps.

I use a NOCO 2D on a few vehicles now. When I plan to park one for a few days, I just plug it in. When I need to use it, I open the hood, look at the fluids and unplug the NOCO. Plugging a charger in via the trailer connector works, but you miss the opportunity to check fluid levels.
