I’m looking for education on use of coke hersee, or battery disconnect. I’ll be setting up my house battery system in the bed of truck soon. Going to set up like my last rig with Redarc BCDC controller. My question is I’d like to run a 3-gang switch plate with USB outlets as well as a separate 12v cig socket for my fridge. I’d like to tie this 2 items together and run through Cole verses then to house battery so I’m not constantly keeping those items hot. Is that doable?

Cole Hersee is a brand, owner of multiple companies and maker of tons of electrical products including fuses, various switches and disconnects and so on.
So, that being said, do you have a specific product from Cole Hersee you are thinking of?
Their catalog is just too huge to guess.......

I have a third battery installed in the back. I use a Smart Isolator, and a Warn cable set, to connect it to the main battery. It's over four years old. I moved it between trucks when I traded in February.

Sorry, in my line of work we use ‘Cole hersee ’ for a battery disconnect on our apparatus. Like saying ‘coke’ for a soda. It’s the basic dial style, on/off. This style….

I’m looking at similar setup but with ability to just shut all outlets/switches down when not traveling/camping.
That's easy enough to do. Just put one of the disconnect switches between the rear battery and the first distribution point.

The Smart Isolator gives me an automatic disconnect between the front and rear batteries after the engine is off. I purposely left the feeds from the rear battery always hot. There are bed lights, cap lights, USB ports, and the 12v port (primarily for the fridge). I want to be able to turn the lights on whenever needed, and don't want the fridge being turned off. If the rear battery gets drained it's an inconvenience, but doesn't kill the truck. The only switch is on the feed to the voltage meter.

Why not just put any switch you like before the usb/12 outlets.
Cheap and easy, and you don't need a fancy battery disconnect switch to do it.

To be fair, we build new fire apparatus and use a Guest switch exclusively on one brand, so rather than calling it a disconnect we often just said 'the Guest switch' :CWL:

See?!?! Same thing! I honestly don’t even know what brand ours are. It’s either “turn the coke herder off” or “ kill the battery”. First option sounds better.😂

Ok let's backup here for a second. Mentioning the use of a Redarc I am assuming you are looking to install a lithium battery in the bed?? Or are you sticking with an AGM?

If your looking to just have a way to shut down power to the outlets, depending on how you have it fused, a simple switch would be sufficient, such as a 20a rocker switch, or even a switch that powers a 40a relay. Both need to be fused of course.

Also, you mention a smart solenoid. Just revisiting the above question - if going lithium, and if you have a BCDC charger, you do not want to connect lithium directly to the main vehicle system via solenoid it is a recipe for bad things. The BCDC should be more than sufficient to charge a lithium battery.

I'd want it automatic, so if those things plugged into the UBS or 12 volt outlets pulled the power down enough, it disconnected from the main/crank battery.

Sure you can just shut off the outlets with a switch - but sometimes you literally want the batteries isolated.

If it was my setup, I'd want a way to disconnect that "rear battery". And if it was deep cycle, you could let it keep running things and still start the truck later.

Agreed and that's exactly what I have. But, it still depends on the type of battery the OP has in the bed. That is the first thing that needs to be answered. If he has a lithium in the bed, you do not want to directly connect lithium into the rest of the vehicle system. Now if he had dual automatic isolators where one is for the main vehicle and the other is for the lithium system, so that the 12v ports automatically switch between lithium battery and main vehicle battery depending on voltages and engine on/off that would work good and be pretty slick, but also more complicated.

Yeah, that's where I would hope for a smart system that controls the lithium charging rate and so on.
Frankly, around here, I'd opt for AGM - I know that the lithium has big advantages, but the simplicity of AGM, and the fact - it gets cold here even in September when I'm snuggled up in a sleeping bag and covered with a quilt on top of that........... lithium wouldn't be real happy.
Redarc has some really nice systems - since I've no big need today, I've not paid big attention, but being a customer of theirs, they send me emails now and then and they have interesting stuff way beyond trailer brake systems.
