The gladiator has more rear seat room than my Colorado, but the front seating position is better in the Colorado. I had to buy seat slammers because the seat is too high up and my head almost hits the roll bar. If you’re over 6’, I’d argue that the stock gladiator front seating position is sub par. I shouldn’t have had to modify it like that.
Hey but it fits us 5'10" guys just perfect :CWL: :like:

Hmm, I haven't had that issue at 6'3" myself. Maybe we just sit different. (My head isn't under the roll bar but is instead under the driver's side freedom panel). Do you have the automatic leather seats (like mine) or the manual cloth? Maybe that makes a difference...

I will say as much as I like the SpiderWeb/J-Top shade tops I won't install one because I don't want to sacrifice the clearance offered by the recessed freedom panels.

Didn't try the Colorado as I traded in a Silverado and was ready for something non-GM. I did try the Frontier but couldn't keep my hat on - In every seating position my head gently rubbed the ceiling.

I know Stellantis makes some crap 4cyl engines, but I’ll die on the hill that Jeep’s overall poor rating is due to 2 things:

First is that the cheaper models are bought by people who just flat out don’t care about maintenance, or can’t afford it.

Secondly, that Wranglers are overwhelmingly owned by younger people who don’t know enough about proper maintenance, or are just too “immature” to keep up with it. They’ll do mods and rag the hell out of them off-road, and then continuously go 2-3K past oil changes.

Just about every person I know who has owned a Wrangler or Gladiator, that is above the age of like 30 and is on top of maintenance, has ran them for 150K miles or more before trading in for a new one, with very minor issues - most of which are normal wear and tear stuff anyway.

Leather seats. I got mine with every available option.

The Colorado and Canyon are great trucks. I had a Canyon before I inherited my dad’s Colorado. They’re different though. Colorado/Canyon are considerably more powerful, the handling is night and day better, and way more reliable, but the Gladiator has an X factor that makes it endearing. Like most Jeep owners, mine has been in the shop a lot. Both of the GMs have been completely trouble free. I just put in a new thermostat in the Colorado at 93k miles. That’s all that’s been done to either, other than regular maintenance.

I've always been really curious on how they get their data for reliability. I'm not going to pretend like the Jeep brand is as reliable as Toyota, but I wonder how much of the unreliability comes from amateurs wrenching on their vehicles to add this or that aftermarket thing, and then having either the product or their work causing an issue, and them saying it's a reliability issue.

The only issue I've had with my '21 is that the rear diff clutch burned out, but that was suspiciously after my shop did a drain and refill, and I wouldn't be surprised if they used one without the correct additives. Jeep covered it under warranty though.

That’s one way of looking at it, but they weren’t wrong. The fully loaded Patriots still had the same problems at a much higher price point. What was the price as tested?
I don't remember the details since that was back in 2007/2008 timeframe. I just remember thinking how short sided the rating was because it didn't have anything to do with reliability nor was affordability the focal point. At that time, the Jeep Patriot was respectable in terms of ground clearance, off-road capability, and cargo space.

The dealership in Gallup, New Mexico was listed as the #1 bestselling Jeep Patriot dealer in the nation. The Patriot met the threshold for people with lower credit scores and low-income revenues, which is why it sold so well in Gallup. Gallup is located next to the largest Native American reservation. I know people with high miles on those Jeeps with good reliability. They were a great value for those who needed off road capability in the four corners areas (NM, AZ, UT, CO).

If we all listened to what Consumer Reports had to say, we'd be driving beige Camrys.

Funny thing is Jeep Gladiator is #5 most US made vehicle behind Tesla. Moreso than the Wrangler probably because of the optional Turbo 4 available in the Wrangler is not built in the US I guess.
The GMET-4 is built in Kokomo Indiana, world events are moving quickly these days, but I believe that is in the United States.

I can tell facts don't really factor much in your world view though, so I'm going to just turn off notifications right now and leave it at that.

My comment on the turbo 4 was an assumption since it is one thing the two do not share. It seemed possible since the Wrangler was not close to the Gladiator on the list. Fact had nothing to do with an assumption. If you have a better answer, I am open to it.
My world view is douche bags who need to insult others to prop themselves up is something the interwebs seem to be full of. Also my world view is I do not need to google every fucking thing to make sure my answers are to your liking.

I just found the whole conversation silly at best. How many pickups are sold in the US that offer removable roof, removable doors, solid front axle, fold down windshield, seating for 5ish, a bed for hauling, and a hitch for towing? Only one. CR has no concept about the fun factor. They would have us all driving silver ev boxes with a T or H on the front. I remember back in 94 having to trade my Grand National in for something with 4 doors. CR said I should be buying a Lexus LS400, or GS300, and I decided on the car CR did not like. A 1994 Impala SS. Because they did not figure in the fun factor.
I would entertain another brand with all the features that make a Gladiator a Gladiator, but there is none. Now if I had to choose between a Compass and a RAV4, I would take the Tahoe

Speaking of silly, you should have bought the GS400.

If my JT was giving me fits I would probably trade it for a GX550 Overtrain Lifevwould have to change some but I think the Lexus would work for me and the dog. Everything is turbo and I am not sure about that.

The reason Toyota was able to stay reliable for so many years is they changed nothing and waited for others to work out the kinks before implementing it themselves.

I had a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro. Looked great, but piss poor performance and boring as hell to drive. You think the 3.6 is underpowered? Drive a 3rd gen Taco. You think the 3.6 hunts for gears? Drive a 3rd gen Taco. Every bit of tech in that Taco was buggy, laggy, and a decade behind everyone else. I tried to like that truck, I told myself the complaints I had weren't really a big deal since so many others praise the truck, but I just couldn't do it.

I am not sure the GS400 was a thing in 94, but I made a great decision. No regrets. I am actually looking for one again.

Actually, you’re right. I didn’t realize that the 400 came out after the 300.
