Question for all the Mechanics :

How intrusive is replacing the fuel pump ? What exactly has to be done ?

My concern is, I haven't had an issue with my fuel pump, and I get concerned when the dealership does anything.

Is there a need to worry that something else might get srewed up or possible future problems from the replacement procedure ?

Also, when looking at my jeep dashboard app, it has the recall date listed as April 13th, but I never received a notification. Is that the date the recall was assigned to my vehicle or the date the recall went out to everyone ?

*Side note: Does anyone know anything about the tailgate lock recall, I cant down load the PDF for some reason.
Thanks

From what I've read. Basically part of the front of the motor gets disassembled. When installing new fuel pump. It has to be timed. Meaning you have to line up the timing marks on the gears.

The tail gate recall. The dealer ordered parts for my JT last Friday. Don't know what's involved.

On your tailgate, does it currently lock/unlock without any issues. I haven't had any problems with mine, not sure I "want to fix it, if it isn't broken ". I cant seem to find WHY the are having the safety campaign for it.

That's the date they filed with the nhtsa I believe. You won't get a letter until June. I believe the pump is on the front top hidden by that plastic shield. Doesn't look to hard to get off. If you're worried about your jeep being apart at the dealership, get the recall done early cause if it blows, the cab comes off and the entire fuel system is gone through.

Yeah, mine works great. A hard lock up and a smooth unlock... from what I found, looks like they might fail over time.

not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way

I was digging through some of the documents related to this recall and found this. Not sure if this was mentioned before.
