Hello all,
If you had $35k to spend on either a) Dynatrac XD60/60, plus all the parts that go along with it (suspension, 40s, etc, etc....), or b) A 6.4 Hemi swap, which would you do? Both come about to about $35k +/- with my bar napkin math. The axles would end up cheaper, I suppose, since you could sell all the take-off parts.
Option c) do neither of the above and use the money for a trip to Vegas or equivalent.
I have a travel trailer that's 23ft and 3900lb dry that I use maybe 6-8 times a year. I've never used my gladiator to tow it except a few short trips to put it in it's storage location. My dad has a 2500 power wagon that we usually use for hauling things across state lines since it's obviously more comfortable/capable. I have no other tow rig, but the TT lives most of it's life at my property in the mountains of VA.
I go wheeling probably about as many times as that per year as well. I wish more, but c'est la vie.
My commute is typically pretty short. I ride a bicycle to the office whenever possible.
I've done nothing to the drivetrain, the JT is currently on 37s and 4.10s. If I get the HEMI, it'll stay that way. If I get the axles, I'll move up to 40s and 5.38.
TIA for the advice. Happy Sunday.
