I was trying to get kayaks on my bed rack and one of the plastic fixtures was stronger than my canvas. Didn’t realize as I was pushing it from the back the soft top was higher than my bed rack…
I’m heartbroken.
gorilla tape is on order until I can afford a replacement…

It happens. I’d go to a boat canvas shop before ordering a replacement. You’ll likely save a bundle.

Keep hearing that. I’d be interested to see folks results.
I have a canvas shop remaking a rear opening for my soft top as we speak. Those folks are creative and can make something from nothing. Redoing fabric on an existing frame is easy for them.

In fact, have them make you a one off. Cut an opening, make a flap with a screen and zipper like a tent. You’ll have a custom screened cover for way less than a new one.

Good idea.
My previous rear opening was either clear or screened. I’m having one made with the outside clear, the middle screen, and the inside opaque. It’ll all be done with zippers to open it up for dogs, make it private, or have it rain resistant.

That’s neat. I’ve seen tents like that.

And ask them to make it out of kevlar, so the next time OP pushes a kayak onto it, it wont rip!

I had a canoe incident leave a mar on my last Mojave.... I somehow pushed it too far forward on the cross bars and it dipped down leaving a dent on the hood! Anyway crap happens and the suggestions of a boat canvas place are correct, those ppl can do amazing work.

How do you know?
Well, remember way back about 3 years ago when my first tranny internally blew up and my truck then sat for 7.5 months and just before that FCA would only repair the misfire cam/lifter problem I had on my first engine but wouldn’t fix the coolant consuming problem and everything was “my fault”?

Well, I got my insurance company involved and they approved my claim of vandalism on the transmission and they said “we’ll throw in a new engine too”. Total claim ended up being 22k cad.

Jump forward about 3 years to NOW and my entire warranty was restricted on my VIN #…. It’s because the 22k shows up on my CarFax as a claim. There’s no detail listed which had FCA assume I wrote off the truck or had a very bad accident.

There’s more to this story but the quick suggestion when seriously considering your insurance company fix damage to your vehicle is, if you don’t want to see this repair on your CarFax which may affect the valuation of your vehicle, just pay cash for the repair.

Tried to buy a jeep brand premium top…. Not the regular top. It will be a little bit quieter inside.

I was at a Halloween celebration in LA, and someone knifed my soft top... I sewed it up by hand super tight, no patch, with the best outdoor thread, and put some silicone on the inside, and it has been fine for about the last 15 years.... No leaks.... You might want to try that.
