Yeah

I just deferred to his expertise and decided not to press him on why. Aftermarket filters won't adversely impact warranty AFAIK.
Aftermarket parts shouldn't impact warranty if it's licensed by the manufacturers for some well known company. But how are we going to explain it to the dealer that the filter used is made by a company name "Happypartstoyou"? ?

I wasn't questioning you or your choices or the knowledge of your tuner... I was just curious if maybe he had done some type of "true" testing. For example, there is a ton of data on OIL and Oil comparisons. But as far as I know, there has not been any testing done on the 2020-2023 Diesel Oil Filter. Especially between the OEM and NON-OEM filters. So although many have expertise, at this point I would still consider it an opinion, even if it is a well educated one.

Does this function as the water separator filter as well ? Or is that something separate ? Im not quite sure how our JT system works.

A doubt a diesel filter at that price will be OEM. But that doesn't necessarily mean its bad either. I would definitely be interested in the pics. I will take some of the non-oem I currently have.

It look to have just one pleat type, so probably not a water separator. Or maybe a single pleat can perform both duty. I'm not sure tho.

There isn’t a filter made for a (small) diesel engine that will perform properly for 15 or 20k miles… that is pure BS. If you’ve ever seen how dirty the oil is after just a few thousand miles you would understand. When your filter gets clogged it just goes into bypass mode and you keep recirculating that same filthy oil all over again.

Oil filtration in modern diesel engines is a complicated endeavor. Don’t cheap out on buying suspect filters and running them to ridiculous miles just to save a few bucks unless you plan on trading in your truck every few years.

dieselfiltersonline.com is a legit site and I’ve been using them for over 30 years on all the diesel vehicles we’ve had.

Mine DID NOT come in Mopar packaging(Box), I believe just a plane white box, but they were in the exact same type of loose plastic bag, not shrink wrapped.
I'm willing to bet they were made in the same factory , possibly even on the same line as the OEM.
Compare the bypass valve. The 3 filters that i had separated it has different valve designs. Some are screwed into the cap with 4 screws. The factory valve is floating and it act as part of the filter cartridge.

I agreed. Plus this filter cartridge is kinda small too. I changes mine between 7-8k miles and by the look of it, i wouldn't go longer.

I am actually taking (tring to.. lol) take the same pics you did. To me the valve looks the same, I was going to ask you if you could take a closer look at it though, to see if something is stamped onto it.. mine seems to have some letters/numbers ? (Or something)

Replacing my first one soon, basically 5k... will be Replacing forward every 8k.
But I wouldn't hesitate to use the non OEM filters I have purchased, I can't speak to others that may be out there.

See how the bypass oring is ready to pop out and over the plunger? Imaging with hot oil and pressure for thousands of miles. It'll get suck into the engine.

Mine doesn't have any writting on it, just a dimple on the outer ring face and the center plunger plastic is brown/greenist in color.
