If we’re talking towing, just get gears. The age old solution is put the highest numerical gear in.

for what its worth, my brother had one on his JK specifically for towing. It was great for like 6 months, then it seized on him. Magnesun sent him a new one, pretty quick. He actually didn't think the gains were worth the hassel of reinstalling. He prefers his f-250 for towing...which has ironically "blown" 2 cylinders twice while towing.

Hot rodding vehicles seems to be a right of passage for some, including me. Every motorcycle ever owned or current 5 have been under the knife. The 3 cylinder Kawasaki was the most tempermental and most modded in 1976. It really comes down to what else will need attention futher down the road. One thing leads to another with sometimes catastrophic results.

The diesel upgrade they say is a $6k option. This is true, I believe, only if you were considering an stick.

$2k for the auto over a stick
$4k fir the diesel

Warranty, even if provided by magnusson, is probably sketchy at best. This is pure opinion and not based on any fact.

There were a handful of folks with a def issue in really cold temps. There were just as many, if not more people with zero issues. I had zero issues in Colorado nor the single digits for multiple days here in TX.

I have 7,600 trouble free diesel miles.
I agree while heartedly!

Let me add that the diesel come with the same axels as the Mojave, max tow width with cast iron knuckles. So you could include that in the cost of the diesel package.

IMO, with a 7’ wide V nose trailer, get the diesel, automatic, 4.10 ratio and add the Banks Derringer and idash gauge for less than a grand.
I love my 3.6 gas Mojave, but I also have a SuperDuty to tow with.

Not sure where is best for this, if a better place please feel free to move.

Been set on a diesel 3.0 since the were launched. As I'm thinking and mulling I'm getting close to changing my mind.

Thoughts? Ideas, feed back?

Hey Josh, if you are in Idaho keep in mind the speed limit is pretty high there (80mph where we were) my diesel rubicon overheated and shut down twice trying to keep up with traffic uphill ... 4 people, and suitcases/coolers for the trip to Moab, no trailer. My father in-laws JL Diesel Rubi shut down twice as well... mayb 4.10's would help? Dunno... Just be aware, first time it happened to us, we were pulling back on from a rest stop, and it lugged down at 60mph and I almost got rear ended. I like my Diesel around town, and getting good mileage on the freeway, and it is amazing on the slickrock!!! But in the big hills of Utah and Idaho best plan for no better than 55-60mph on a hot day. That is just my experience so far.

Orange, ya that's kinda what I'm reading. Both the UT and CO guys keep noting issues; high 5k+ elevation, grades and hot temps = over heating turbos (oil temps).

Thank you for your input :)
