So I am planning on a DIY Trail Rail as inspired by Red Hot Sloth's write up
Most likely will order all parts through McMaster-Carr.

Parts:
Black powder coated solid low profile unistrut 3310T818 5ft x 3
Red low profile caps 3312T12 x 6
Flanged button head screws black oxide 92137A550
Beers

My question is, can I get away with just using the flanged button head screws?
I see that most others also include a lock washer, can i avoid it with thread locker? Blue or red?
My reasoning for not wanting to use a lock washer is to keep the screw head as low as possible.

Thanks in advance!!

With thread locker it should be fine (I'm no structural engineer). I didn't see the flanged option when I ordered my parts. I'm also using the 1/2 height aluminum struts.

Lol, that's good enough confirmation for me!
Also, anyone used these tie downs?
Really dig the look of those!

I just looked at those yesterday! They are nice. I decided I don't really need them right now, but maybe in the future.

His trail rail was item #2 I ever did to my truck after the bed liner. I used it a lot at first, but I have then found I end up paking to much crap in the bed I rarely need to tie a single thing down. The eyelets I got from the supplier have started to surface rust, but I live very close to salt water.

Item #2 for me and also after getting the bed lined as well. I went with line-x. The overall utility of the rails is definitely something to consider. Although i can see myself using it more for when the bed isnt completely full. But i can be wrong.
