I have a synthetic line, and my winch is pretty recessed in to the bumper, with the solenoid sitting over the spool.

mostly wondering about winter exposure.

Bought one yesterday.... Amazon Prime delivery tomorrow. The AZ sun is brutal on everything. Ive read that UV is one of the top things to damage a synthetic line so my choice was easy.

No cover. I just clean it when I'm done off-roading.

I'd like to. I tried, but there little to no clearance around my winch and the bumper so I had to return the cover.

I fabricated one a couple of months ago. I have synthetic and didn’t like it exposed all the time. I added some weatherstripping under the plate to keep crap from the road from getting underneath it.
I didn’t like the bags but I never found a steel cover made for the factory steel bumper???

@Jeeptruck that looks great. But how do you get to the release lever to spool out?

I do not use a cover. We have enough rain and humidity here that it is a tough decision. Use one and protect it, or use one and the line might stay wet since the cover will hold the damp in.

That is awesome, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I have the same bumper and have yet to find a cover that I can get to stay on at highway speeds.

I have Synthetic rope and live in NM where the sun is harsh on everything. So I keep it covered.

The winch is a smittybuilt H2O 12k# with a warn mounting plate. I built the plate to where I can still barely reach under to move the lever, but if I am doing something where I might use it I switch the five factory bolts out for two thumbscrew M8 bolts.
I was also concerned like you about holding moisture in with a bag. I’ve had propane grilles rot out faster by them holding moisture in with a grill cover so I don’t use the covers anymore.

Yeah I can’t believe no one makes a steel cover for the stock bumper. But I guess it only works well if you remote mount the box under the hood and not enough people do that?

If you started selling them I might buy one for my wife’s JL. I want to relocate the the box on it (smittybuilt also) and on the Warn on my JT. The JT has an LOD bumper so it would be a little more work to make a cover I think.
