Yes !!! A winch bumper will make a Mojave think its a Rubicon and it will get stuck quite often and will need to have a front locker installed.

Funny you say that because when I test drove an X a few months before I bought my standard Mojave, I thought it drove amazing. Then I ended up buying a standard Mojave and immediately knew it drove different. Not a major difference, but I could tell it was softer over certain bumps. Now I notice how much softer the springs are with the steel bumper on. I can pick up the X springs for under $600 or wait for them to elusively show up on Facebook. I've thought about X springs and 1" spacer all around and then MOPAR performance LCA's as the perfect stance without upsetting the steering too much. But from everything I've read and people I've asked, a stiffer spring on the Mojave, at the correct length to keep it in the sweet spot for the Fox shocks makes the entire system drive and feel far better and stable.
Short answer yes but I had to trim a little off the corners of the skid plate ( on my rubicon) as well as some small tabs on the aluminum bumper on the bottom. Were you able to use the OEM skid plate?
If it came with a steel bumper, you shouldn’t have to. Mine came with the plastic bumper. So am I reading this correctly that my Mojave(steel bumper) skid plate will have to be modified to fit a warn winch (VR10s) and winch mount plate?
Ok Thanks....If it came with a steel bumper, you shouldn’t have to. Mine came with the plastic bumper.
Only the front springs. Kept factory rear plastic bumper, so no extra weight in. The back. Turned out great.Did you only replace the front springs??
To be sure ,the standard Mojave skid plate bolts only to the frame while the Rubicon style or metal bumper the skid plate also bolts to bottom edge of bumper. I put a Mopar performance steel bumper on and it also uses the Rubicon steel bumper type of skid. I think the steel bumper skid makes for a much stronger setup as bumper is tied to skid making both stronger and also is more aerodynamic in my opinion…..JackSo am I reading this correctly that my Mojave(steel bumper) skid plate will have to be modified to fit a warn winch (VR10s) and winch mount plate?
I like this bumper except for all the holes around the winch rope slot. There’s a thread here about using the eBay aluminum bumper with a winch.
I decided to give it a shot as Ilike the OEM look but didn’t want the weight of a steel bumper.![]()
Im almost finished (just have to tiddy up the wiring) but so far I’m really liking it.
I have the AEV suspension kit so it’s designed for a winch…
I'm leaning in the direction of the Arcus bumper. Just have to decide if I can live with a stubby. We have a lot of deer in our area. I appreciate the reply with the great info.![]()
Superwinch 12k with Arcus bumper. Stock skid plate with no modifications: Barely noticeable drop and no regrets
There’s a plastic cover for those holesI like this bumper except for all the holes around the winch rope slot.
Mopar sells both an offset and a centerline fairlead adapter plate to cover those holes.I like this bumper except for all the holes around the winch rope slot.
