Does the fuel door lock? Or is it just a door anyone can open?

Manual says push to open.
Push and it pops open. You could always add a locking gas cap for security.
Yeah i was thinking about something like this bit.ly/2W1WKpS it keys to the factory key so you don't have to have an extra key. Although i was thinking perhaps it had an electronically locking fuel door that locked with the vehicle, that would be cool but more than likely it is just a push door.

My civic is push to open, but will only open with the car off and the doors unlocked. This could be similar.

They are push to open whenever and where ever. Not sure that's a huge concern, unless you are worried about someone putting sugar in your tank, or even worse, petrol!

The fuel door does not lock. Two locking gas caps are available. One that comes with a separate key, and one that can be keyed to match the factory key in the fob. I bought this one off Amazon from 166 Auto. I watched a video and then keyed it myself. I spent about an hour on it. Not real difficult, but you have to be careful and test it. Once the cylinder is inserted in the cap, it does not come out. (Yes, the picture is wrong, order by the Mopar part number).

I really dislike the push open door, wish Jeep made it with a better latching mechanism. I don't really want a locking cap, I just want the door to stay closed rather than opening anytime anything bumps into it. Car washes for example will open your fuel door. poor design imo.

I wish it was similar to my wife’s Mercedes. If the doors are locked the push to pop open function won’t work.

I have this same issue. I now look back to check after exiting a car wash ?

Put this in the same "bucket" as the no hood lock thread. Cheezy. All the unnecessary crap they add to vehicles today and Jeep can't come out with a secure hood or gas cap in vehicles that cost up to 60K$+ - LOL. Who would have thought.

Well, this one is an easy fix anyway.

Maybe I am just too old school - LOL.

It never even cross my mind. I have owned lots of cars and pickups and none have a locking cap. Where do you guy live that this is a huge problem? You can spend 80k and more on a Chevy, Ford or Dodge and they will not have a locking cap.

I’ve wanted locking caps before, just for peace of mind, but they would always cause CEL’s so I gave up on the idea.
