So the upgraded cooling, gears that are 4.10's and in wider axles are cost prohibitive to do after the fact. The sticker on your truck will not change to reflect that you did those expensive "upgrades", so legally you're not in any different a truck that you started. You'll be FAR better off selling the JT you have now and buying a Max Tow.
Yup was not considering legal aspect. Unfortunately my Willy's is a 3-year lease. RV is more of a long term goal when kids are a little older. I'm buying my truck at lease-end barring I have no major issues but God only knows what the car market (and world) will look like in 2025.

Interesting idea. Of course chosen options will blur these lines but as for starting points, here's my input:

TRIMS:

Sport: want as manual/basic as possible

Willy's Sport: want as manual/basic as possible, but a few physical upgrades (rails, LSD, wheels/tires)

Sport S: want comfort options to build from, or wanting the Max Tow package

Altitude: want fancier than a sport S

Willys: want comforts with some off road features but a Rubi is over kill or over budget

Overland: want luxury touches like a wrapped dash

Rubicon: want off-the-lot ready to go crawler

Mojave: want off-the-lot ready to go off roader where it's not all crawling

High Altitude: want every possible option I can get, excluding off road features
Those were my reasons for the Willy. Plus I like the looks.

High Altitude: No one told me people make fun of jeeps on 20s until after I bought this
LOL . .. and we people with Jeeps on 20s make fun of Jeeps on 35s+, uber-off-road tires as they struggle to go on a straight line on the freeway. (J/K I have a set of each, depending on the occasion ;) )

TRIMS:

Sport: Smells like broke

Willy's Sport: Smells like broke and Monster energy drinks

Sport S: Sorority girl or graduation gift

Altitude: Wanted an Overland but this is all they had on the lot and the spouse wanted to go home

Willys: Ex-military but only served 2 years and worked in the galley the whole hitch

Overland: Needed something to go to the mall and soccer practice

Rubicon: Compensating

Mojave: Compensating but in orange

High Altitude: Wanted the most expensive one on the lot.

If youā€™re interested and capable of taking off the trim to all your seats and replacing them, I can get you a whole set of Mojave in cloth or leather and the steel gray leather if thatā€™s your thing.
Oh man, that sounds awesome - I dont think I have room for it in the budget right now though, Im working through a pile of parts that have been sitting in the garage over the winter, gotta clear the backlog and pile some extra cash up again before I go splurging on more upgrades.

Curious how people interpret the many available trims and who they're catered to (in a few words)...

Could help potential buyers and save people from trading in for a different model to better suit their needs (after the fact):

I chose the Mojave because I thought it looked the best, has a great suspension and rear locker for anything I plan to do with it. Also I only compared it with the rubicon and with same tires on both, the Rubicon wandered mucho at highway speed, was much more clunky on road imperfections than the high speed desert set up on the Mojave. Itā€™s stock at slightly taller than the other models as well as slightly wider.

WOW you nailed that one for me! The High Altitude had all the tech features I wanted and the snazberry color.

Right? It really made sense to me too. Otherwise, I would have had to go buy the hood decal and ā€œinstallā€ it. šŸ’©

Seriously though...the average person could just go buy a pair of hood decals and OE JTR take-off wheels and tires and save some coin, lol.
