Impressive! We need to get you some UL listed, hi-heat, Data wire with some proper shielding. You could make a new Engine wire harness. Probably fix everything!
Well almost. I think we have a little programming issue too.
So if you believe heat in the harness is the main culprit of the dummy lights, have you done anything to mitigate it?
Have you wrapped your wires with tinfoil or anything?

I say tinfoil, only because that was a known fix for certain erratic shifting with the auto tranny behind the Cummins in the late 90s, early 2000s. The base problem was electrical noise from the alternator. Tinfoil was free and maybe 10 minutes work, vs several hundred dollars and an hours work. Plus new alternators only fixed the problem for so long and it would come back. Shielded, twisted pair wires would also fix the problem, but again, that costed money and took more time to do it right.

Yes. I experienced about 5 Christmas dash light events with derate. I wrapped all the wire harnesses from the passenger cowl area to the electric steering pump. I used DEI heat wrap. Specifically made for this. Derate has never happened again. The events all took place in the first year of ownership.

I did continue to have engine light codes pop up. Usually a single code. No derate. Nothing noticeably different. Just a light on the dash. This would occur only during long periods of drive time. 6 plus hours off-road type driving. I’m convinced due to heat soak. It became the norm, expected.

I recently installed GDE Afterlife tune with 190 t-stat. My average oil and coolant temps are 15 degrees lower. No more engine lights.

Sensors do go bad. Bad sensors don’t fix themselves. I was seeing different sensors go bad all the time.

All it takes is a 1” hot spot in the wire loom to confuse the ECM.

My Journey is posted/discussed throughout the Diesel section.

Installed the bypass harness and it didn't pickup any additional gauge. Discovered that the OBD cable that came with the Scangauge don't even have the pins for CAN C in the connector. It wasn't designed to detect CAN C.

Yeah but i doubt that they used all of them thought. Maybe they started with a complete header type connector. Factory OBD port only has 7 wires.

Thanks for the reply. I've seen your issues, but didn't recall seeing where you had wrapped anything.
DEI makes good heat wrap. I used it on spark plug wires for an AMC 360.
Knock on wood, but I guess I've been lucky. No christmas lights or derates while towing my enclosed trailer.

Funny thing. I have never had an Engine light or Derate with the trailer connected. I’ve done the Davis Dam Grade pulling the trailer 100 plus temperature’s. No issues.

This is why I say Heat Soak is my issue. Long drive, slow speed and no airflow.
