The company working on a radiator solution is Bullet Proof Diesel.

The Hood Vent conversion is https://www.facebook.com/OTBDesignFab/ I met them at the Moab EJS, they had completely sold out of product, ordered one the next week and installed it right away, I now have over 6,000 miles with them on and while I don't have any way of doing scientific tests, I can tell you that overall they have reduced my engine temps 10 to 15 degrees.
anyone reached out to bullet proof in awhile on radiator progress? Supposedly working on one.

Are there even rooms for a thick radiator? Low profile fans?

I can only tell you they took my JTRD in and spent a day on it. Decided they needed one full time so they bought one. Summer temps last year turned into fall and winter. They've tried a number of things with limited success. As of last month they were still working on it. Honestly I'm surprised they spent the money to buy one because in the long run the 3.0 is a limited production/low sales engine that won't be sold after this model year. The other thing is IF a real solution is made available there are few of us here that would be willing to fork out the cash to pay for it, the rest will stay looking for a cheap junkyard fix. Time will tell.......

I reached out to them last week. Still waiting on an update.

Hell.....my truck is about half way through it's service life by now, so I may never see anything come to production before it's time to replace it?

I'm just about at 60k miles now at 26 months. I expect to be close to 70 by 36 months. I would hope the diesel has a 250 to 300k miles expectancy.

Just got my first one going to the Sierras past weekend, weather was in the 107F, altitude and steep mountain passes got me going at 25mph, no throttle power. Staying on the side of the road for a few minutes (engine running) did the trick. Oil temp climbed to 244F I believe. Am I due for an oil change now? Lol

I wonder if this means it’s time to regear now, bigger tires and weight weren’t a problem so far but I’ll trade my 75+mph zone for more torque as I never use it. Does it even make sense?

did you remove all the insulation around the motor?

I can tell you that gearing doesn't fix the issue but it does make the truck more drivable overall. Earlier in the thread we addressed that it takes XXX HP to maintain XX speed at a XX load. The RPM where the HP occurs doesn't really matter much and the trans has gears close enough together to take care of that small 10-20% change.

That kind of service life is super optimistic. I am planning on the truck being in the dumpster by 125K, but I hope it's much better than that!

I'm at 45K miles in 29 months, but only use the truck to out of town trips for the most part.

Some: plastic cover and foam on the driver side and top IIRC.
Pull all that crap, and go naked ;). i think it helps trap heat and gives premature derates. My thinking is getting rid of all that stuff helps keep heat off all the electronics and sensors and lets them actually monitor what they are suppose to with out give false heat soak readings.

it's a easy mod and if you don't like it reinstall....

My concern was that if the engine gets super hot, removing all that would allow the heat to expand more in the engine bay and actually have consequences on the sensors and electronic. The hood things aren’t functional AFAIK so the heat kinda stay trapped right?

I cut my vents open and made them functional, i also removed the sealing gasket at the back of the hood and the cowl to allow air to escape.

I see. Aren’t you worried about water intrusion, rain, wash etc?
No more derating with your setup?
no worries abotu the water. I offset the hood vent holes and the holes in the insualtion, water hits the back of the insulations and sheds around the engine like a umbrella.

i have not had anymore derates and i have seen oil temps at 255. I have also not had any quick stop heat soak derates either.
