Funny thing - I found a couple of other similar tests, too. One with a sports car..........same effect.
If you look as the shape and placement of the shields and baffles in there, makes some sense.
But I'm not a member of SAE.
It makes total sense to me........The area under the hood is probably a low pressure area at speed helping draw more in air through the grill. Air dams increase the pressure in front of the grill while inner fenders with rubber flaps seal the engine compartment so the low pressure under the vehicle contiues into the engine compartment.
This is a big reason why I have resisted changing inner fenders or any other change until I know no other problems exist. I've been doing this long enough to know every change can have an unintended consequence........one we may or may not be able to live with depending on our use.
90s ground effects? Hot pink wiper blades too?
