I live down in Maricopa. Current heat has been brutal. Getting ready to order an oil filter housing to take some measurements and have a cooler adapter plate made to replace the factory heat exchanger.
Some more information on this would be great!

There is a Canadian company that already makes that plate for you. I considered going that route but removing the factory cooler just screamed voided warranty to me.
Can you post a link or name to said “Canadian company” that is producing a plate for the new 2020+ ecodiesel

I have been contemplating this, since you posted this.

What does not make any sense to me- this hookup is “too easy”- obviously you haven’t grenades your motor.- or at least yet. But I find it hard to believe with how many companies have made plates for the previous generation, or are actively designing aluminum radiator for this application didn’t think about connecting a couple line fittings, some hose, and an oil cooler……

We (we as in those actively participating in this thread) are missing a key piece of information that has kept companies from going down this road.

I am not knocking you by any means! I think it’s great! Something just isn’t right…. This is too simple of a solution to make money on…..
Lol, no worries. I just posted what I did. One port has oil pressure out and the other is a return. It's almost like they were considering adding an external oil cooler for a towing package but then didn't. I've had it in for an oil change at the dealer and they didn't say anything.

The 2gen Eco filter housing does not have the 2 port plugs like the 3gen that I could see. So they had to make a plate. Think the older the 3gen gets and more people drive them. Think you will see more things for it. We are on the cutting edge of it right now.

Can you connect the two coolant lines together and re-test?

I suspect the hot coolant is heating up your oil cooler setup. Especially with that large cooler and fans you should see below engine coolant temps if your not under load.

I would reccomend trying that real quick and see if it helps.

I'm not going to change the factory cooler while still under warranty.

I plan on testing this as well. Once I get the factory oil filter assembly I'll be able to see how, where, why the ports are running. Comparing it to photos of the 2g it appears our 3g has a coolant in and out independent of coolant coming from the block. Ideally I'd like to use the ports Samfamazused to feed an external oil cooler and then remove and couple the coolant lines to isolate the 2 systems from one another.

Once you get the housing and find out how it flows. Hoping that the ideal set up would be just to splice the coolant lines together, and use the 2 plugs on the bottom for oil lines. This way, you wouldn't have to remove the heat exchanger.

I'm thinking that the 2 plugs are there for machining purposes. They drill passages then plugged the opening.

Somehow they were able to machine the gen2 without those holes? Plus, they would have just put in press in plugs and not machined that size hole and used a plug with an O-ring in a size commonly used for oil line bungs.

Let's say your right, who cares? One side is the pressure side that feeds the stock oil cooler and the other side is a return.

I don't think you'll gain much by bypassing the stock cooler. Under normal load with my cooler my oil temps are are within a few degrees of coolant temps. Oil temps are usually 10 plus degrees over coolant in almost every vehicle out there. Only under heavy load do my oil temps climb higher than coolant.

I think my next step is going to be a methanol injection system. I don't run a spare underneath so I have lots of room for a tank.

I want to see what bulletproof comes up with but I have to think that the "engineers" put everything they had into the current radiator since they were banking on that being the only solution they went with.

I am the machinist (plus a lot more)for a turbo manufacturer. We also sell complete kits for vehicles which requires increased cooling capacity. I am no "expert" but I am familiar with how this all works ?
