I’ve posted on this before but the sound didn’t come through the video well. I’ve got a much better vid now.
I’ve also discovered Jeep have realised there’s a problem with the camshaft phaser - usually on the right head and this is what I think it is.

it’s not all the time but most of the time now. It doesn’t seem to matter if the engine is hot or cold.
Now the site tells me the video file is too large. I can’t win. I’ll post to YouTube and be back with a link

Mine has a very similar noise, however only after cold start and only for the first few minutes of driving.

I thought it was piston slap or something else but my oil analysis keeps getting better everything (on change 4 @ 14.5k/mi).

If you ever find out, definitely interested.

I want to see the rpms and if your over 3K or the off road pages. Sounds good to me .

Over 3,000 RPM will kick in the higher volume from the oil pump............ is that what you are after?

From the sound, it was definitely over 3,000 RPM.

It's just not possible to tell from a phone in the cabin with the road noise and all - not to me, anyway. From here, it sounded ok - but again, phone video being held while driving, not the best source of sound.

Only low to medium rpms in the video say 4,000 max, that's where I normally drive it

I get your point about the recording quality, I just listened to it on my office PC and its not clear at all. On the Laptop and phone its very clear. Not sure how else I'd record it than from inside the cabin, its only noticeable under light-medium loads and much more on the driver's side (right side in NZ) than elsewhere in the car.

It's faint, but my ears can hear an abnormal rattle in there.

NZ ?? New Zealand ?? As I stated before there is little covering the bank 1 as opposed to bank 2 ..
Zip tie the phone under the hood and set it to record . Then get in and put that sucker down the road lets see if it sounds louder?

UPDATE: This problem is solved now. The engine hydrolocked on a steep climb and bent some rods at 13,000km and Jeep NZ are replacing the whole engine under warranty. If the new one rattles the same I'm out.

The final photo is of the instrument panel showing no alerts except the amber check engine which came on after the lockup. I'd have been doing maybe 2500-3000rpm at the time.

Hydrolocked? As in water in the combustion chambers? That's what hydrolocked means. It means fluid, such as normally water, in the combustion chamber, which cannot be compressed, locking the engine up.

Hydrolocked is not at all related to detonation.

Detonation can cause spark plug insulation to break and can deform or damage or break piston tops, but that's unrelated to hydrolock which usually happens after crossing water and sucking water into the intake.
