Thought I’d share my experience and issues with my 2022 Gladiator Sport S, if helpful.

It had an engine tick develop at 5,000 miles. Took it to the dealership where I purchased the truck new, and they said it sounded “normal”. I eventually had issues with the truck dying with lots of lights on the dash going on and off.

Took it into a different dealership and they identified the tick in the engine, opened it up and found that both cam shafts were already showing wear, and rocker arms that were stuck. They replaced both cam shafts and both sets of rocker arms. The tech didn’t perform the repair correctly, so the same issues reappeared and had to have the engine opened again and some things re-adjusted.

The engine sounded a little off still, but all seemed well and it ran fine for another 10k miles.

Now at 15k miles, the tick is back louder than ever and I’m afraid I’m heading back to the dealership for more repairs.

Super frustrating as a first time Jeep owner. Jeep is saying there hasn’t been enough issues for the Jeep to qualify as a lemon. Just hoping to resolve the issue and potentially sell or trade in the vehicle at this point. Super bummed as this was my dream truck that has turned out to be a bit of a nightmare.

Trying to attach a video with a sound of the tick.

F them. Lemon time.
Yeah… thinking it’s time for arbitration or an attorney. We pay too much money for these things to have these kinds of issues!

sorry dude.

most don't do this...lemons gonna lemon tho. Dealers can't fix a damn thing as they're all incompetent morons. Demand a buy back or a new truck.

If you want to try the Lemon Law option, it is best to consult with a Lawyer that knows the laws for your state. There are varying requirements that have to be met, and some states have time restrictions. If the dealer is attempting to fix the problem, it delays or temporarily limits action.

Talk to the dealer about a buy-back, since the problem keeps returning. Don't mention Lawyers or Lemon Laws, as that usually makes them less helpful and less willing to work with you on a solution.

Thanks for the advice. I’m in Utah and there are some pretty ridiculous hurdles you have to overcome- something like 3 or 4 times fixing the vehicle for the same issue. And a certain number of days that it has to be inoperable. I’ll try the buyback route first.

The transmission, cams, and all the other issues that many have had have taken Jeep off my list for future purchase . For the future a GX 550 looks good. But for now my JT is OK.

Amazing how a thread over a year old suddenly pops back to life!
The actual TSB has been posted and discussed in multiple other places. That's not even really the TSB, but another person's talk about it.

Cam and paint issues are the only biggies I see at all with these.
Not transmissions - those issues are actually rare. The same design is used in several other makes and models and is a very reliable design. But then, you are in a place where people come to talk about their problems (vehicle or otherwise) so it's going to LOOK LIKE a lot of people have certain other problems.

After everything I've seen - my only concerned at all - and those aren't really deal killers at this point, are either cam failure or paint issues. I'm picky as heck about paint so that one would bug me is a repair came out imperfect. The cams - so far, out of the 5 or 6 upgrade engine-equipped Jeeps we've had, no abnormal tick at all, none. Just loud injectors.

If the GX 550 "looks good" based of presuming you'll encounter a cam shaft/lifter issue, then maybe wait on that until Toyota figures out the issues with it grenading itself in the first 30-40k miles. There are guys in 2025s still reporting this issue despite Toyota releasing multiple fixes for it.

The V35A is the same engine across pretty much all of Toyotas full size manufacturing, reports in the GXs will be lower simply because it has a much lower sales volume, the Tundra forum though has no shortage of reports.

I hope to have a few more years with the JT. My trans has not failed yet and I will have the dealer do a program on it. I have had no CELs for anything.

I don't understand how an engine can $hit the bed at oh lets say 30k miles..
What am I missing here?
I truly hate someone has to go through this after paying blah blah dollars for a new vehicle and has to go through this.. really I don't know!
