i ordered Clayton’s 2.5” overland lift w Fox shocks recently too. had to get some synergy 1.75” spacers since i’m keeping my stock rubicon wheels
I am running stock Rubi wheels on my 2.5” EVO with 37x12.5 and had a slight rub on the control arms but I resolved with a washer in the steering stop on each side. Easy fix that I don’t notice the small change in turning radius.

are the lower control arms straight on the evo kit or are they bent?

Hey you may wanna test before you bust out the spacers. I installed the jl spec aev borah today and it looks like I’ve got plenty of clearance. There is a 19mm difference in offset between what I have and the stock wheels. I have 37x12.50’s installed right now and it looks like 2ish inches of clearance with the lower control arms at full lock. Going to go test the rubbing off-road tomorrow. But I think Clayton’s recommendation is very conservative for our wide track axles.

Unless you just like that wider stance in which case go for it. I was running 0 offset and wanted to tighten things back up with my narrow fenders
thanks for the advice.
yeah i got the spacers per Clayton’s recs for stock rubi wheels since these wheels are 6.1+ BS (i think per JL forums). Clayton recommended at least 1.25” spacers for my 33”. i’ll go to 35s as some point.

Clayton overdelivers. My 2.5" kit on a non Rubicon was closer to 3.5-4".

Fun pic of my kids 1:24 Jeep with Trail Grapplers on my Jeep with Trail Grapplers. You can see how much the 2.5" actually lifts.

I have 1.75" on Rubicon wheels but not Rubicon or Max Tow axles, regular width. Zero issues.

yeah my backspacing is 5.72". So not too far off from where I am at. Here are the pictures I took today.

Tires are used so not the full 37x12.50 anymore & I have them in true beadlock so both of those give me a little extra clearance. But there is a ton of space there.

I have read on here that the Clayton lifts are not what they advertise height wise, they provide more lift, to me that would be a bad thing, increased driveshaft angles and higher COG. If they are such great lifts and Jeep experts why don’t they list what the real lift height is ?
It's lift from the Rubicon, which starts higher. And it's a bit extra for gear and upgrades and still have 2.5" at the end. Imagine the disappointment of getting a 2.5" lift on a Rubicon to find it's actually more like 2.0" and when you factor in recovery gear, bumpers, winch, maybe a bed rack, under-body armor, etc it ends up more like 1-1.5".

If you have a lower truck like I do, an Overland, you will see more than expected, but it is still in line with Rubicon's esp as you load the truck.

Here is Clayton's actual Answer.

We're happy to see everybody is getting great results out of these kits! The way we design the coils and the height of our kits is based off of the rear measurement of the vehicle, and we always want to give you guys about an extra half an inch or slightly more depending on the vehicle, to help compensate for gas tank weight, any heavy accessories, load capacity etc. We also have to take into account that springs tend to settle some, and we never want our customers to be left with less than what they paid for! The front end of the vehicle is also lifted slightly higher, sometimes by a whole inch or so, in order to remove some of the factory rake. All measurements are taken on and with Rubicon models in mind, so Sport/Sahara model vehicles will always see a little bit more as well! Hope this helps to explain why some of you are seeing that little bit of extra height, not that that's ever a bad thing of course

They are bent which does help. I didn’t rub at all with 35x12.5 and rubbed a full turn lock when I moved to 37s.

I have the 2.5 overland. And I will definitely need to change the driveshaft, but quite frankly it’s an easy thing to do so I’m waiting till I gernade the stock one.

The only regret I have with the lift is not going to the 3.5 from the get go. Not that I don’t have enough lift now, but because I’m sure I’m eventually going to want more and going to have to buy springs a 2nd time. On the bright side the Clayton’s are quite tall so I’m sure I’ll find someone who wants to upgrade from another brands 3 or 3.5” springs that are actually much shorter.

Edit: oh and the Fox shocks.

I just ordered the Clayton 2.5" and was actually very strongly considering changing that order to the 3.5" before it ships , in fact I already verified with Clayton that I can change it. The people at Clayton have been fantastic to deal with. I was wondering if you might be able to post some pictures of the stance on your truck with the 2.5" , there's not many photos of these lifts on the web to judge by , and i keep reading that it over delivers but at the same time i don't want to regret not going with the 3.5 similar to you

Mine is on order as well and I went with the 2.5". I considered the 3.5" but after speaking with Alex at Clayton and learning their 2.5" is actually closer to 3.5" on my Sport model, I decided to stay with what I ordered for a couple reasons:

1. Its more than 2.5" as mentioned.
2. It easily clears 37s with factory flares and has even more room with aftermarket flares.
3. any more than 37s on factory D44s is asking for trouble unless you never wheel it.
4. lift in excess of whats needed to run the tire of choice IMHO is just plain dumb. Theres zero upside and plenty of downside to jacked up trucks.
5. More lift necessitates more mods like possible driveshaft lengthening, brake lines, etc. These costs and fixes just for another 1-2" in unnecessary lift didnt make sense to me
5. I wanted my JT to still fit in my standard height garage door. With the 2.5" clayton and 37s I should have about 3-4" to spare.

At the end of the day, its your jeep, do with it what you want.

These are all with the Clayton 2.5". The solid black wheels are with 35's & the wheels with the ring are 37's. My Fenders are the bushwackers so I have a ton of room. The picture with the gray JT & mine back to back will give you an idea of the lift. That gray one had MetalCloak 3.5" springs at the time. Tires were also 2" bigger then mine. So his tail lights should have been 2" above mine instead they were 2-2.5" below mine.

I'm hoping to pick up a Gladiator soon and was going to go with Evo until I got on here. Now I think I will do the Clayton 3.5 Overland kit and the King Shocks.

How are these positive offset wheels working out for you? I'm in the market for wheels myself , and as i mentioned earlier today , i have the same lift on order. I plan on running 37x12.50 tires and would like to keep them as tucked in as possible but without any rubbing. I was looking at 4.5" - 5" backspace wheels as per Claytons recommendation , but looking at the clearance you have here , im wondering if that recommendation is to cover all bases , narrow axles included , which is going to make any of the models with the Dana44 wides have substantially more clearance.

Just got the wheels on yesterday & went wheeling today. I had some marks in the dust on the lower control arms that looked like I may of gotten some rubbing, but very little. I know I got some rubbing on my ACE inner fender's, but I was expecting that.

I am going to replace these used tires I bought & if I still have any rubbing it should be a small enough amount that an extra washer on the steering stop's should resolve it.
